Hello,
so the story goes, i had these 2 estate parcel and i wanted to downsize to just one so i sold one to another SL member. He purchased the land it is in his name, he is responsible for the tier. Now the next day he is IMing me first telling me if i can come and remove the trees i left... I told him he owns the land he just has to hit Return. So he does that no problems. Then he IMs me again telling me he cannot raise the land, i guess he is editing the land to his liking. I told him i dont see why he couldnt he is the owner and i myslef edited my land to my liking. Then he says he contacted the estate owner and recieves no response, i told him that is between him and the estate owner. Then he is IMing me again telling me he is going to report me and if it some kind of joke that he cannot raise his land. I was not mean to him at all, i said ok you do what you have to do it is between you and the estate owner, then he tells me "goodluck" and that i sold him the land and he is going to report it to Linden.

Am i responsible for any of this he is stating? is he grieving me...should i Mute him?

No, you are not responsible. That is between him and the estate owner now. Sounds to me like this may be the first time he has owned land.

Don't worry about it Mackenzie - you sold the land on and it's not longer your business and he is wrong to have a go at you.

It would be different if he was merely contacting you for assistance as it seems he doesn't really know what he is doing, but to report you - I can't see it getting far!

Maybe drop a quick note the the Estate owner explaining he is having problems and is hassling you, could they assist?

I sympathise Mackenzie, there seem to be a fair amount of people in SL who like to lose their temper when the least little thing goes wrong for them or they do not understand something.
It is my belief that if a person cannot be bothered to learn something before attempting to do it then they should be prepared to encounter problems and should not assume that the thing is broken, or that they have been somehow scammed and should seek help appropriately in a calm fashion.
You are however not responsible for his issues, you sold the land - end of your obligations. In fact you have even attempted to be helpful to him when you had no obligation to be, he should have appreciated that instead of giving you abuse.

by the sound of his intelligence level, you should be glad he didn`t ask you to pay tier aswell
more interresting will be, will he pay tier to the estate owner or wonder why he "should" pay some one as the land is "his"

wouldn`t mute him just for a future laugh wich sounds in the making, just tell him "between you and the estate owner" and ignore every chat after untill the laugh arrives

You could drop him some notecards with info on land ownership, a suggestion to join the land-answers group, a link to the land-answers.wiki.zoho.com site, plus a link to sl support , and suggest that he join NCI and and take some of their lessons, and that he contact a mentor to ask about how to terraform, etc., in addition to talking to the estate owner.

The threat of malicious ARs is quite worrying. I was in Chelsea sandbox once, in a skyclub I'd built. A very annoying but initially friendly newbie came in and kept asking questions about building and then rezzed cubes inside it. When I said I was going he said I must remove the club or he'd report me. I started removing sections and he was still telling me to do the next bit or he'd report me immediately if I left any bits.

Estate land can't be owned, only leased. (Yes i've read the 1200 discussion threads on this subject, just stating my personal opinion. so just ignore...) And the total dependence on the whims of the estate holder can cause a lot of frustration if you think otherwise.

I've been threatened with ARs dozens of times for dozens of reasons. I've never even had a warning of LL in 4 years.
I know it's usually born out of the frustration of feeling powerless in a specific situation (like in 'owning' land you don't actually own...), and lashing out is a normal way of releasing that. It's best to simply ignore it. You're just a good target for the frustration, as you're actually around.

Deals between residents are not AR'able, so don't worry about that.

I wouldn't do a thing. Mute him and forget him. He's not worth wasting your time and energy.

Yes, send a nice info notcard. This is the best thing to do. The buyer probably just has no clue how land works and it's not something one could be intuitive about.

You should have told him to let his Mommie or Daddy get on the computer, maybe they can figure it out.

Try being a Mentor if you start to miss questions like these :)

Sorry you had this experience tho - many people can only exist by being spoon fed.

One would think if he can't figure out how to do things he wouldn't be able to figure out AR screen, I personally I can terraform but never been able to find the send button on the AR screen. Heck it's whole lot harder:)

Tell him this:

Dear Avatar,

I'm not responsible for your land problems. You must take up any questions you have with the owner of the estate, <name>. Threatening me will not help you. Reporting me to Linden Labs will not help you, as I have done nothing wrong.

Even though it's not my problem, I have a suggestion for you about your terraforming questions. Try LOWERING the land. Does it go down, but not up? If it does, the problem is that the land is already at its maximum height. Most land is only editable within limits defined by the estate owner, usually +/- 4 meters or so. If this is your problem, then you MUST contact the estate owner and discuss your request with him/her. if the land does not go EITHER down or up, then again, you must contact the estate owner. Only he/she has the power to give you terraforming privileges, and to define their limits.

This is the last communication you will receive from me. I have no more interest in the land I sold to you, or in dealing with you or your problems. I am Muting you, so don't bother sending me any more messages. Thank you, and have a great Second Life.

Was it a private Sandbox or a LL one? If LL they are self cleaning and let's be honest, LL get a load of asshat ARs every day. I wouldn't worry too much about being AR'd if I were you, in this sort of scenario ...

From the original OP "i had these 2 estate parcel…i said ok you do what you have to do it is between you and the estate owner…"

So it's an island estate. It should be possible for the new owner to terraform as much as he pleases within convenant parameters

Yes, Dekka, I knew it was estate land. That's my point...terraforming is allowed, within the parameters set by the estate owner.
