Hey everyone. This might not be something that can be remedied but I wish there was some way I could get it so that my avi would always look straight ahead and NOT follow my mouse pointer. I mean... it's cool that they do that, but I wish they wouldn't always do it. I wish there were a button you could press and hold when you want them to follow where your mous goes so it looks like they're looking there and when the button's not held down, the just look straight in front of them like normal.
I have issues with this because I play with Windows Magnifire on the bottom of my screen 'cause I have eye problems. I move the mouse pointer to what I want to magnifiy. When I'm talking to someone, I move it down to the chat window so I can read what they said. As you know, that's in the bottom left corner. Well I'd like to actually look at the person I'm talking to, NOT at my chat window.... maybe I should rewrite that... I'd like my avi to look at the person instead of looking down all the time because that's where my mouse pointer is.
Is there anyway to fix this? Maybe not,, but it is an annoyance. So... any ideas?

Click on your av with your mouse while you press Alt. So Alt-click once on yourself = stop moving.

You can also hold down the alt key and click on the person you are speaking with. Your head will look directly at them and will follow them around if they move. As long as you don't alt click on anything else or start walking around you should remain that way.

Or alt-click once on the person you're talking to, which makes your AV look at them (but also freeze in place). You can still cam around a bit, but the focus will be on whatever you have alt-clicked on.

Bree's a quick little thing ... ALso, aren't there some AO standing poses that will stop you from moving your head around?

I want this animation. I have one that rezzes a hot dog and you can just sit there munching away. Fries would be nice. All the stuff I deny myself in RL - I WANT it in SL. My avatar can't get fat. at least one of us should be able to enjoy delicious french fries, hot dogs and regular soda pop. Sigh...back to my salad and apple for lunch.

From: Trout Recreant I have one that rezzes a hot dog and you can just sit there munching away. It's not the one from the Carnival of Doom, I hope.

From: Ann Launay It's not the one from the Carnival of Doom, I hope. lol - NO! That one does bad things. REALLY bad. What a twisted place. I love it. The last time I was there, I had to explain to some people that if they died in SL nothing really happened. They were afraid that if they got killed, they would have to start SL all over. In fact, dying in the Carnival of Doom is sort of fun. The carousel in mouselook is enough to turn you green in RL.

I seriously doubt anyone would be offended. You can be sure 99% of the time when you are talking to someone, they are probably in an IM, AFK from the keyboard, or Alt-Cammed off 70 meters away. Probably the last thing they are doing is looking at the person they are talking to. (oh am I telling on myself? )

ctrl-\ I believe it is will also look at the last chatter, and of course while you are typing your head is forward and down a bit. Alt-clicking on someone is good for when you are just talking with one (and watch them move around), but in groups you'll just stare at that one person. Ironically, there are many stands/poses in AOs that don't allow heads to move, which I disliked so much the poses I made allow our heads to move around (and let you breath naturally too instead of appearing like a lifeless statue).

You might want to fiddle with the text sizes.
One place to set text sized is Preferences / Text Chat / Chat Font Size. That sets the size of the scrolling console chat.
Another is in the Client / Debug Settings .
FontSizeHuge, FontSizeLarge, FontSizeMedium, FontSizeMonospace, FontSizeSmall for setting font sizes and some other font related variables.
FontSizeMonospace will adjust the size of the font in the script editor, among other places.
I believe you have to restart SL to see changes in these debug settings changes.

From: Amaranthim Talon Trout - where did the hot dog come from ? I want one The Carnival of Doom - YUCK! Never again - It was a freebie. I don't remember exactly, but if I can transfer it, I'll give you one when I get on next. It's sort of goofy. The hot dog is about twice the size it ought to be. I think it came in a box with some other food. Maybe a taco, a few drinks and a burger. I haven't dug it out in a while. For all I know, the asset server got ahold of some prim relish and mustard and ate it.

Actually....there's lots of animation overrides that do NOT move your head when you move your mouse.....most of the ones I own are that way. AO's are sold all over SL and you can try out the poses before you buy in most places....so that may be the easiest solution....rather then having to fiddle with the alt/click every time you want to stop that feature.

Grendel's have freebie (or nearly free, not sure) type-overriders that have you munching on chips, cookies or sugar while you talk.

While I can see that in some situation you don't the "look at mouse" thingy, but when I am making my pictures in SL it very usefull to make the model in a certain direction or at a certain object.
So I really need it!

I love my metabolism!!! 98 lbs since 1984!!! WOOT!! BTW- can I have any weight you lose?? I'd like to shop in the Men's Section someday.

Ok, cool. I'll try that. Carnival of Doom... don't believe I'vbe been there but I really haven't been anywhere. I mainly hang outin Sunset Springs and that's about it. I wonder around to other places but there's really no one anywhere it appears and when there are, they don't ever really wanna talk to anyone and that's just depressing.
