I guess some may have had it and some perhaps not I`ve just finished my first product wich took ALOT of time to complete and now that i`m standing in my lil store in the middle of no where, nerves start to tinkle if to release it at all and get cold feet if people will like it or burn and crash so fast a flaming alt can`t keep up Any one else have had it happen? not talking about your 1-2 hour prim "attachement" but a product wich took you weeks to complete

Dare one ask what said product could possibly be?
Or, at least drop a hint and let us guess?
If it's a cat with a slice of buttered toast strapped to it's back (butter side up)...I have to tell you that, "No...that will not be a perpetual motion engine when you drop the cat..."

Hey it's the new no rules forum. Promote the crap out of your product and give landmarks. Congrats on finishing it, whatever it is.

I get something like that when I make a complex scripted object. I came into SL with no usable coding knowledge since goofing around in BASIC maybe 25 years ago, and I'm always certain there's some circumstance I didn't allow for that will break the damn thing (users being who they are, and insisting on using stuff however they please), some testing I didn't do enough of, etc. etc. I've had to grit my teeth and just ignore second thoughts when it comes to animations, it's too easy to tweak some part endlessly and sometimes break other perfectly nice parts in the process. Plus couples animations will -never- fit every couple just right, it's just a fact of SL. Fortunately as regards romantic animations, variety is the spice of life so there's always someone who finds a particular animation set appealing for one reason or another Oh, just for Raymond: BUY MY STUFF! BUY MY STUFF! BUY MY STUFF! THERE'S A LINK AND A REALLY BIG PIC RIGHT BELOW!!!!!!1111one

well yes of course we all get cold feet and worry what people will think. and it can be a 2 hour prim attachment, an all nighter in photoshop, or a week at something, it is all the same in my book.
We are exposing our creative side, and if someone says that sucks, it hurts (but I would rather know it sucks than to live in oblivion thinking it looks good)
I was nervous and excited when I made those back piercings things, and even though was nervous listing them, I did anyway and actually got some sales. (I even made another one) and plan more ... it is fun to create
some of my stuff has never sold, but do I get upset? nope, I just move on to the next thing.
good luck with whatever it is you made.

Uh, let's see. There was my bush baby avatar which some people thought was cool but most people thought was "scary" and "ghastly". There was my photo sourced skin, beautiful but flawed. It could use more work but after six weeks I had enough. I sold one within five hours of setting it for sale and NEVER sold another. After a year in SL I finally found my niche, my full perm sculpties kits which people buy and give nice ratings and reviews for. I still get butterflies when I release each item. It is always a relief when peole buy them. There is no way to predict what will sell. All you can do is make it and set it for sale and maybe consider what response you get when you make the next thing.
There is no failure, there is only feedback.

I didn't worry about what people thought when I released my products... because what they thought was going to change REAL quick.

i used to make custom leather clothing and jewelery in RL to sell, yea, i almost always got butterflies in my stomach when ever i interviewed new retailer or went to a fair. not knowing if your going to cover your costs or if people will like your idea, it can be stressful. but when you have a hit it is wonderful. just remember there is no accounting for taste and do not take anything personal. some of the things i made that i thought where butt ugly where my best sellers. i made more money off of little braided bracelets made from scraps then anything else.

No, i'm not getting any tingles or butterflies from releasing new items. Just a sigh of relief, that I finally managed to do all the ad work, help notes and setting for sale stuff, which I generally find a drag. (Which is the major reason half of what I create isn't for sale...)
On any scripted items. How much I test or debug. Releasing it 'into the wild' will always cause some bugs to be discovered or issues to be found. Software (and SL scripted items is just that) is never 100"% bug free. Especially in a volatile environment as SL.
I just try to deliver high quality level of customer service. If somebody has an issue, i'll respond, look at the issue, and do my utmost to fix it. On very complex (more expensive) items, I make sure i have the ability to roll out fixes to everybody who purchased it. On less expensive items, it's on a per request basis.

if it is a very complicated item it may be worthwhile to do a limited beta run and get some feedback before going live with it.

When I release something I am always believing there wilol be a huge rush to come buy it... however that passes. Something you will find out is people who visit your store will critique the oddest things, all the way up to why did you put a store here? So proudly go forth release any and all of your creations and just smile and wait for the people who it will click with to come see it.

Aiming for that aswell, kinda hard to know what people want unless you`ve been in their position to make a first version of it and then listen to what people want to see or have added to it, this will be my driving force, doing it as it should be done unlike a very good example From: Nina Stepford if it is a very complicated item it may be worthwhile to do a limited beta run and get some feedback before going live with it. agreed and recommended gave a friend life time access and usage of it as she has thrown away more of these system then i know that exists ingame and loved it, ofcourse some feedback resulted in quick fixing ie/firefox to 2 template sets, remove manditory registration so it all works with just a click for the end user, spent like 1.5 week debugging with alts lol From: Alice Katayama When I release something I am always believing there wilol be a huge rush to come buy it... however that passes. don`t mind much of the rush (ok, i`m a lier ), just that if the target group i`ve made it for actually will find it usefull as i`ve been in their shoes befor. people will allways have critique, if they can do better then they should do it them selfs, if they like it and can`t do it them selfs, give feedback on what should change, something i`m aiming for, add/modify to what they want or need, it`s easy to know what you missed personally but impossible to know what others want or need untill the first version is out if i had this when i still had my island, it would have made life alot easier lol got a crapload of ideas that people haven`t come up or not done yet, just the first thing you put on market is sooo nerves breaking

your next project needs to be a clockwork project-like banlist prim/server combination that allows me to add people to a the parcel banlist from a central server. sl needs a product like this and none exists.

i feel ya Ali, after over a year of tinkering and getting comfy with texturing and the like, i finally allowed the mister to talk me into puttin my simplistic stuff up for sale......so we can cower in the corner together and whimper....
to Ray:although i feel your angst, the forumz could be worse, i offer a tour of the MSN forums to you, and they are heavily modded.
