Wonders what NEW n consistant problems this "DOWNdate" will bring????
Wonders how much past noon it will take????
Wonders how long it will take the game to settle down, THIS TIME????
Wonders if our clothes n hair will stay on, if they are even still in our inventories????
Soo wonders if the grid will EVER be even half way decently stabilized????

I would probably say 1 to 3 hours past the stated finish time. I can only remember once or twice when scheduled downtime finshed on or ahead of schedule last year.

Added 5% chance to randomly proc "blinding poofer" to the blingtard class.

Furries have been removed to make the game more balanced.

Gorean slave collars can now take over your computer on successful application.

All avatars are now chibis.

Why do they do this? If they think an upgrade's going to take 6 hours, why not just say it will take 9 hours and then come back online after 8. People would be happier with that than being told 6 hours and discovering the upgrades take two hours longer than expected.

You're in? At the time they said we would be.

Wow, all this rending of clothing and throwing of ashes in hair for nothing? If the grid goes up as scheduled, let's all say something nice about the Lindens

Perhaps you wonder about things too much?

it'll be back when it's back. There will probably be issues. There might even be a few less issues, too. Life will go on.

How many of these threads do we really need? Couldn't we just bitch and moan in one thread??

Everyone should note that ALL electronic equipment is most likely to fail from defects within the first 6 months of being put into service. This means any and all components installed in the asset server cluster will be most prone to failure in the next 6 months from the moment of being powered on, this is COMPLETELY out of LL's control and the very reason all complex mechanical and electronic devices have a warranty. Such devices include your cell phone, your shiny new computer, even components you buy for your computer.

Now I find the figure of 9000 CPUs being put into service last year staggering to say the least, that is one hell of a lot of hardware! With that much hardware being added to the grid, no wonder there are failures, the odds are stacked against LL.

That is assuming the servers are quad-CPU:

2250 Chassis
2250 Network Cards
4500 Power Supplies
9000+ Hard Drives
9000 to 18000 sticks of RAM

Perhaps to a lame man that seems like nothing, but that is one hell of a lot of compinentry that can fail in part or full without any warning. That does not even cover hubs, switches, routers and all the other components that lets the servers talk to each other.

Hmm did the update cause problems, seem ok to me, but then the thousands of bots autologging have finished by now.

Wasn't one major failure down to what is basically a hearing aid battery (installed in one of the switches) giving up?

Seemed fine here. Which means no-one will ever remeber this update ever happening.

Compared to 12 - 14 months ago SL seems extremely stable. Ive just took 9 months off from actively playing so maybe I am seeing the difference more than those of you who have played continuously. From my experience of being back over the last week I am very impressed with the strability especially when there are 50K users online.

Plus I pretty much creamed my pants when i saw Windlight up and running on my swanky new system. Awesome.

I will, getting the "object is missing from the inventory database" thing again. Do any of you have my favorite pair of shoes?

Yes, but they're really pinching my feet.

Can you get a bigger pair next time, please? :D
