That can read what?

Object names and description are visible to bots, as is llSetText text.

Text in chat, public or IMs, is visible to bots. The bots I've heard of are controlled by text in IMs.

The text in land searches and dialog boxes is visible to bots.

Bots could use processing similar to the Eliza program to produce the same sort of partially coherent responses to normal human produced chat in their vicinity.

Bots could run character recognition software on bitmaps in captchas, or they could do something like send the bitmaps to humans to read in return for a reward. I don't know if any of them do this at present.

I doubt any of the bots are engaged in recreational reading to enhance their enjoyment while they camp and search for land deals.
