I had a nice but plain avatar yesterday. Went to a costume party as a Tiny. Looked and worked great.
When I went back to old self, body shape is a total mess, completely. It appears that when I put on the Tiny shape etc, SL threw away parts of me (???)
How do I get myself back to where I was?

Type WORN into the inventory window -- you are likely still wearing a piece of the 'tiny' and that is warping your regular form.

hmm - can you explain a bit more about "body shape is a total mess" then, or post a pic?

Advanced / Character / Character Test / Male or Female
If that doesn't fix it, then also
Detach All.
Clear Cache.
Restart SL.

BTW - If you do the "character test", that is simply replacing everything currently attached and worn with the contents of the Library folder "Female Shape & Outfit" or "Male Shape & Outfit". So after doing that, you'll then need to put your regular shape/skin/eyes/etc... back on.

I went around and around trying everything .. sigh.
But someone told me to restart the app. That fixed it...
Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry for the confusion. Restarting shouldn't have had anything to do with it, unless you restarted in a sim different from the one you logged off. I'm thinking maybe the original sim had the wrong information, and when you restarted in a new sim, your information was reloaded...?

Uh, this seems so obvious that I hesitate to mention it, but when I look back no one else seems to have said it other than your original statement of having gone back to your old self.
Are you sure you've got your original shape and that it hadn't somehow been modified?

Kinda sounds like the animation that crunches the avatar didn't deactivate even though you took off your tiny AO. I've had that happen when using a big dragon avatar, but the one I have came with an object that reset my animations and solved the problem. Otherwise relogging fixes it, apparently.

If you seem to be 'missing pieces' then you are probably wearing invisiprims (prims that are transparent and make parts of you go 'way.) those are necessary to hide part of your avatar when you are a tiny or some other shape that's very different from your regular one.
Type WORN in inventory and remove anything that isn't your normal gear. Or, just click yourself and choose 'detach all.' Points for being underwater or somewhere else private when you do so.

I think the issue you've run into is this one; . The short version is that some AOs for tinies and various non-human avatars scrunch up your body by rearranging your anatomy and you need to relog or play some special undeformer anims to regain your normal shape, since "Stop Animating My Avatar" doesn't do it. See also I wish people wouldn't keep referencing tinies and deformer in the same context. Tinies (at least the most commonly seen ones, Wynx, etc...) do not use any deformer animations. They are folded, not deformed. It's nothing to do with deformation *at all*. This bothered me a bit when I saw all the tinies protesting the talk of removal of deformation technology as if it would negatively affect them. (note that this does not mean I'm for the removal of deformation, not in the least, just the plain old wrong of thinking that that's what makes a tiny, and the spreading of that misinformation)
