If you go to the grid status page, and look at the calendar of events, there are 3 entries called: 'AboveNet Notification - 20090710-101'

They read:

There's also one for Aug 1st and Aug 2nd which are 7 hours long and affect Los Angeles and San Jose.

So what exactly does this mean? Is this something to do with the Texas datacenter going down? :confused:

From looking up the company, it sounds like they are the ones that provide LL with their connections. So, if LL does not have their redundancy set up correctly, SL (or part of SL) will be affected/

Yep. I think they booted level3 for abovenet a few months ago. It's been showing up in my tracerts for a while now... Or maybe they're using both.
