The problem with NO COPY

I can understand why many items are NO COPY, but not most clothes. For example, suppose I have two copies of a top or jeans? I can't wear them both at the same time, or wouldn't want to, anyway. It's a problem because when an outfit is saved, the pieces go into a folder. All NO COPY items are not available to wear in another outfit, without breaking up the saved outfit.

One solution for this would be for LL to create references for all NO COPY items... similar to a Windows shortcut. Then when an outfit is saved, the items themselves are not moved into a folder, but only references to the items. That way multiple outfits could be saved even with NO COPY pieces.

This drives me nuts too.

What's the point? Isn't No transfer the one for protecting the IP of the author?

I like to have folders like:

"Dance club set"
"PG zone"
"Strip club"
"Ballroom Dancing"
"Exploring"
"Basic Clothed Kitty"
- etc.

One button clicks I can do to change my theme to suit where I am.
That I then have to follow it up by opening up an assortment of folder to swap in an out various things that couldn't be in more than one folder... is just a pain.

The reason store owners give me when I ask is so you can trade clothes with your friends, sell them in yard sales, give them as gifts directly. A lot of people prefer them, and so long as that's true we just have to hunt around for our copy-no-transfer clothes.

Outfit folders [to me] are an inventory bane  however, I do make all my stuff copy/mod because they are all tintable items. I do not save my tinted items as new copies, I just re-color the prime one.;) With over 36k items and more being made daily, I have taken to putting my uploaded textures into boxes to save space.

With the new client, or for those using Boy Lane's cool viewer or clients with a similar feature it's far easier to offer clothing with a choice of perms than it previously was.

If it is no trans yu cant "share"

all my stuff is copy mod..... cause I hate getting no copy no mod things.

But then again, if I spend 500L on an outfit for an event.. and wear it once... why the heck should I not be able to resell it? Like in RL to a resale shop or yard sale or whatever... Unfortunantly, there are those who will copy and resell and resell and resell........*shrugs*

so... The problem arises as you are not going to please everyone always....

If you want copy ask the creater maybe they can whip you something up...... if not.. go else where. So many of the same things on SL being designed I'm sure you can find something else like it somewhere else....If creator is to busy to do this for you then it is obvious they dont want your business.. so move on..

The only exception I make is rings, I have these trans because most women are buying for men and the prims are so tiny that if you edit it you will mess it up if you have no idea what you are doing.....

I prefer clothing that is transfer and no-copy.

Having a "non-Amazon" type avatar, I end up buying a lot of really good quality clothing, that ends up looking not so great on me.

With transfer, I can give them to a new person who is usually thrilled to get something nice. I think it even helps out the store in the end, because I always make sure and pass them the landmark too.

Different people are different!

I have 300 avatars in my account. Quite a few times I have had to buy multiple copies of the same outfit to get multiple avatars dressed the same.

I like this idea! No, scratch that. I *love* this idea! This would be the ultimate win-win situation for both the clothing designers AND the consumers! The only down side I can see is when someone tries to edit that no-copy prim skirt to better fit her shape and royally hoses it; but, we already have that problem now.

Since I never ever use the create outfit feature......that issue has never been an 'issue'.

Over-all I'd rather have clothing be transferrable anyway so it doesn't pile up in my inventory. I like being able to give stuff away when I'm tired of it....or re-sell at a yard sale.

The only thing I get fussy about is pants being no mod. I cannot stand the too tight, too short legs of most pants and I always adjust them. I wont buy pants if they're no mod except maybe if they have prim cuffs. Otherwise, I really don't want to walk around in pants that look like they would cut off the circulation of an anorexic.

Mod/transfer would be the ideal combo for my. Copy isn't any big deal except with poses because I use them in photo huds and in different AO's.....so poses/animations are more appealing if they are copy. Most are no transfer anyway, so that's no big deal

But the outfit thing.....how do you guys manage to always wear the same combinations? I can't even do it IRL nevermind SL! I'm always putting together different looks. LOL

I wish... :)

That list was what I would use, if I could copy it all.

But it breaks down very fast as I run out of the ability to make copies.

That said, maybe a worn device could do it - let me save outfit sets, and choose one to wear, having it wear those items for me. No more need to copy.

The first store that will give the option would be cool :) sell stuff where you can choose the perms you prefer.

I believe Hya has started putting out both copy and transfer boxes at Silent Sparrow for new products.
