Rezzed Items Disappearing

Hey, clever people...is there anything going on in this, our great Land of Borkdom, that could account for rezzed prims disappearing off a parcel on their own? A friend has had several things disappear off his walls recently. They are not in his Lost and Found, nor in his Inventory anywhere. He has a sufficient reserve of prims available to handle almost anything...yet he has found items gone, off the walls...and no, they aren't behind the walls. He moved the house to see!

Any ideas what could be going on? He lives on a private estate, if that matters. Any ideas of where to look for the buggers?

Thank you thank! You're the best!

could they have just gone invisible?
strangely enough I have had that happen to me, thought my walls were missing, but when I clicked the parts showing (it was linked) it showed outlines of the walls that were apparently gone
I did nothing to fix it, they just seemed to come back

the only way I guess to know for sure, would be to get a count of existing prims he knows he has there (and of course can see) then check land info for the count it shows

other than that, no idea... unless they took off on their own somewhere...

We had a cuddle rug that got sent back to its owner's inventory last week, though no one with the ability to return it recalled doing so. It was an asset we all used, so no one had any reason to return it, and only 20 or so people ever have access to the place it was in.

If the items seem gone, and are not in lost and found or inventory, try switching group tags. Sounds odd, but sometimes it makes a "missing" prim or linkset reappear. This is especially the case if othrs can see the item, but you can't.

Otherwise, maybe it got edited to another height in the parcel? Try looking straight up, at 4096 Meters. If Z-height got edited to anything more, it would stop there. Could also be any lesser height on that vector.

My piano disappeared. The bench is still there, but the piano is gone.

Prims Disappearing - going Invisable
07-29-2009 22:09
I've been having the problem of prims disappearing (going invis) in a build and some parts of my attachments are going invis too. This just started happening lately. It seems to be some other problem other than the viewer, since this just started happening..at least for me.

It makes building impossible. LL get it fixed!!!!!!!!!

A friend told me about a fix for the problem of disappearing or prims going invis.

Go to the Advanced menu (crtl alt D) - Debug settings.
Type renderMaxNodeSize - set the value to 8192

I have been experiencing this lately too, when making shoes, some parts disappear, then reappear, very weird

Sorry for the length of the post but it is exactly what this is all about. Please find ways to SCREAM your displeasure at the Lindens!

Information from Liliana Bethune - Lilipily Jewellery Owner/Creator-THANK YOU Lili!!

The latest Second Life release has caused some interesting problems, due to a new limitation imposed in it by Linden Lab to force builds to be less prim or especially vertice intense and supposedly ease the problems of lag. This imposition has caused existing builds to not manifest properly, so that bits and pieces appear to be missing. This happens whether the build is of normal prims or sculpted. It happens because there are too many prims in the same area, with too many faces needing to be 'seen.' It is worse in any area where there are a lot of prims, or avs gather with a lot of attachments - so pieces of buildings don't rez, or bits of hair or jewellery or clothing can't be seen.

Until the growing outcry from content creators and their customers forces Linden Lab to return the higher rez ability that was seen in previous release versions, there is only one way that you can ensure that you will see your multi-prim jewellery, or other extensive builds, effectively. It won't help other people to see them better, if they haven't used this work-around, but it will help you know that the area you're visiting or the jewellery you're wearing, for instance, actually IS there, and can be enjoyed by you - and also anyone you tell this workaround to. Here it is:

At the top of your screen, next to the Help button, there is an Advanced button. If you can't see that button, Press ctrl - alt - shift - d. The Advanced button should appear.
Open the Advanced menu and scroll down to the option called "debug settings." This will open a box, where you can either type in, or use the drop down menu to select the setting, "RenderMaxNodeSize." Change the value (it will probably be 4096) to 8192, though you could go as high as 9001 so long as it doesn't cause you any other problems.
Hopefully, when the next release comes in a few months time, this problem will be fixed in the system. In the meantime, spread the word!

I had prims start to disappear around me the other day and the great folks at the Forum Cartel suggested I re-log, clear my cache and the prims would probably come back. Re-logging did the trick. I never got around to clearing my cache.

Happened Last Year
08-12-2009 11:18
I had this exact problem happening last year per this jira I began:

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-1520

The items were rezzed on mainland I owned and set to the proper group tag (only people in my group were my alts and then partner).

The losses happened during approximately a week's time. They included a Pillow Talk animated pillow, a display cabinet (that I built so could replace easily) and the worst - one of my rezzed THinC trunks that held archived items.

I have used basically the same viewer since I began SL so it was not a "new viewer bug." I did all the typical suggestions (went to the 0,0,0 sim co-ordinates, cleared cache, relogged, went to Beta Grid and looked in inventory...the works).

Contacted Live "No-Help" and was advised that if the items had been in my inventory they could rebuild and therefore retrieve them...but since they were rezzed objects there was nothing they could do. Also, since it was mainland, they could not do a rollback.

I never did recover these items.

Is it possible at all he rezzed the items and they had a 'buy' option? I've done that before - the seller must've left it on when they packed it up. I only caught it by mistake, but if someone else had seen it and bought it I'd have found those things 'missing' later.

Just one possibility, since random people do still get on private estates sometimes.

I had prims completely vanish when I unlinked them from their whole. It was seriously ticking me off, because I was nowhere near my prim limit and these were the items I had selected then unlinked. It happened several times before I got fed up and did it the skirt in a less efficient way.
