Last night I spent a good 3 hours bouncing around, trying to find the right home/building for my new land.

I want something I can use as both a home/studio.....and gallery. I don't do all the domestic RP stuff......so I'd rip out kitchen and bathroom add-ins if they were part of the build. But I was going absolutely insane trying to find quality builds (that weren't also 500 prims! lol)

There are 4 builders that I know of.....that were fantastic, that have nixed their SL business....either completely leaving the metaverse...or simply axed their house biz. This in itself was heart breaking. But I figured I'd stumble on some new, fresh designers. I was so wrong. I tend to go back to Ace's Sapces a lot, simply because the builds are cool and low prim. I also have grown a fondness for Hydro Homes. But I wanted to find something fantastic and different. What I DID find that was really outstanding.....was also so high priced that I couldn't justify a purchase. (13000L for a building....um, get real lol)

I figure I'll know the building when I find it.......I'm not married to any one style idea.......so.....gang.....before I continue on my burning eyes inducing quest......anyone know of some great builders/designers out there???

Or....is anyone out there itching for a custom build project to do? :p :D

Check out Brennan Homes. I bought a really nice modern ranch style, with a huge wraparound deck. It has 4 rooms, lots of space and windows, and would be a great studio I think. If it were transferrable, I'd give it to you, it's just sitting in my inventory.

I bought an Ace's Space's home and love it. I modified it easily to conform to my needs and it doesn't look anything like the original home, yet was easier to modify it rather than starting an entire home from scratch.

I personally love Dominion Homes. Some of them can get pretty pricey, but he has several smaller styles that might work well for what you need.

I rather like PrimFabulous' builds, but most are more commercial than residential, in my own opinion of aesthetics. Most come with furniture, though, and many of them have baked shadows in the textures, and just about all of them do look...well...fabulous!

Reasonably priced, too!

There is a sim called "Houses" that has 12 very good home builders that you can peruse and get LMs to their main store. I don't have any houses there but I do own the sim so please excuse this shameless plug.

Hmmm...Vision Homes is one of the places I could NOT find! I love their builds.

Well....I'm browsing xstreet now.......and I'm seeing some potentials that I can check out later. But my head is killing me..... actually....it's been three days of a head ache now and I'm ready to take a drill to my temple LOL.

I will probably modify whatever I get anyway because I'll need more wall space for hanging prints......and sooooo many times I love a style, but not the textures LOL. So....as soon as the grid behaves I'll go back in. Hopefully that will be soon as I have a meeting in world at 3:30

Try Villa on Villa. If you like that style they are very low prim and quite stylish.

hi Milla, go look at Barefoot Homes & Designs home display platform

Some nice contemporary design houses up there, pretty good on prims, very good quality and prices good and within reason. There is one in particular, can't remember what it's called unfortunately and I can't get inworld right now to go check, but thinking of what you are saying about living space, plus some studio type space - that one would probably be quite suitable. Two storey thingy on one edge of the platform. It's the opposite end from where there is a large greenhouse type building, pretty close to landing point I seem to recall.
If it isn't set up for sale, just IM the creator Jeremey Ryan, I'm sure he can get you fixed up with that if you like the look of it.

Try SkyeRyder Varriale. She mostly does 17th French-themed stuff now, but her modern homes are beautiful and would lend themselves well to a gallery.

She might do something custom for you if you ask. Mention my name... she's a friend.

Neighbors on my sim have a steampunk-kind of looking airship thing that is really well done. I was talking to someone else who said they are really fabulous and wants one himself.

Decided to take a look last night and was very impressed. The airship is self contained as a home, completely decorated including beds and furniture with couples and other poses, a TV screen, built in internet radio and security system. PLUS it can fly!!!

It was around 160 prims, but keep in mind that really EVERYTHING in the way of furniture was included. It would fit nicely on (or over) a 1024 I think. And the price was very reasonable. I have it on my list of "homes to purchase in the future."

There are several models but the one I liked the most is called the "Selene Cloud Hugger" and is on the Dreamfall sim (the store seems to be the only thing on the sim). If you are interested, please let me know and I can get the name of the designer when I go in world.

I'm giving a nod to Brennan too. I have a 2 story, nice sized deck, skylights. Lots of walls space for hanging artwork. Nicely detailed, was one of their smaller homes, to fit my narrow (albeit large) lot, very modern. Love it.

Is Coco's Cottages still around? (Come to think of it haven't seen her posting in awhile either.)

Some nice houses there nicely arranged by size of land parcel.

[Shameless plug]
Milla, not sure what your tastes are, but pop by my main store.
All my prefabs are low prim. They're all copy/mod, so you can modify till you're heart's content and nothing's over L$1000, so you won't break the bank!
You'll also have a hard time finding any dodgy joins or textures. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, or so I'm told.
There's a TPer in the corner of the prefab section to take you up to the rezzing platform where you can rez and have a good look around all the prefabs.

I also like Ace's spaces, but also
Barnesworth Anubis'.

You might also like CreaConcept's West Wood (view the images, the small one doesn't do it justice).

Yes, ma'am, and thank you so much for the plug!

I've just been busy irl so much so that I haven't had much spare SL time for forums. But as you can see, I am trying to get caught up here and there!
