Growing Bored

and so because of that, I appear to be feeling event-a-licious.
we just had a hunt.
I think I want to do a building contest.
*shrug*
Was thinking about prizes and formats. Themes? no theme? Judges? Votes?
Considered having it be where the winning build(s) could be show cased and for sale on our sims.
Considered having other stores go in on it.. I dunno.
Ideas? thoughts on how tos? Advice telling me to run from it..far far from it?

Sounds like fun, assuming it's a somewhat extended competition--as opposed to another "beat the clock" event with ringside seats, etc. Well, one of those would be fine, too, but... well, I suck at those Nonetheless, they are more "eventful" and would draw more people to the venue... unless you could make the judging into a spectator sport, kinda like "American Idol" being more of a draw because of the judges than the contestants.

Anyway, it would probably be "fairer" to recruit some respected judges (who don't themselves compete), rather than voting, with the resulting feeding-frenzy of competing Friends lists.

I'd suppose that some constraints would make judging a lot easier. Maybe something like: "residential, suitable for a Nautilus City site," or "commercial, suitable for Bay City," or "prim fashion accessories for a 1950's movie star." Or something more marketable (whatever that may be). Probably also want to impose some limit on prim count, just so you can rez them for display. Maybe some pre-announced judging criteria. (Creativity? Craftsmanship? Efficiency? Low lag impact?... dunno.)

I thought it might be fun to see a SL sim created by all residents where they could rez only one object. It might look goofy or it might look very cool. Either way, it could be fun.

However, if you're looking to make money, my idea wouldn't work. My idea is a just for fun project. Yet if you are growing bored and you don't want to make money but have just a fun project, my idea is free.

jack might check out "Sandbox on little blue island" there are weekly speed builds and a show and tell contest plus other build related contests threw the month.

We are thinking like.. an extended one. I am making this up as I go here, but something like.. a week to build, has to be built publicly I think.. like at our sim or define location... with a prim limit obviously and some theme.

We considered doing a multi layer voting t hing..where the top number of finalists then go on to be judged by.. th e impartial, respected judges.

we also thought it might be fun if the judges were also willing to display the winners items (or landmark depending on prim availablity or whatever) at their location. sort of.. a joint thing? I dunno.

I just need to do something entertaining...and this seemed like it could be fun AND help some under exposed people have a shot at it..but am winging it entirely

I fear it would start to fill up with pink flamingos, red go-carts, brown monkeys, burning motorcycles, rotating houses and an assortment of plywood cubes, cones and spheres - until someone rezzez a 13,000 prim starship at 3000m which mysteriously brings everything to a halt!
