I have sended from my cell phone a message to purchuase L$ paying 3 pounds per txt...i got the codes but i cant find the site...can you help me?

No. And the Lindex does not text you ever that I know of.

Never trust anything to be from Lindenlabs unless you can verify it.

If you've given out any sensitive information you might want to take steps to protect yourself.

I know that in other countries you can use your cell phone to pay for things or transfer money by sending a text message to a certain place and it would debit your phone account. So I guess someone is trying to do that with Lindens.

If you answered an advertisement inside of SL to buy Lindens via SMS, you were dealing with another member of SL, not with the Lindens. The Lindex only uses US currency, and none of the vendors listed on the foreign exchange page use SMS for transactions.

Your recourse it to go to the people you did business with and see if they will correct the problem. If that doesn't work, it is a matter for your local police or telephone authorities.

I checked some of these vendors in-world, and they are using services such as Paypal in addition to SMS, This means that there can be severe penalties if they don't deal with people fairly.

(correcting myself as I misunderstood, it appears the link even though on the lindex is not supported by LL, they merely have it linked for those who wish to use those optional ways to purchase lindens)

one of those might use text via cellphone but not sure as some are in foreign languages

when you go to the lindex it gives the option for other country currency

Woot what a cool way to sucker people, just spam RL telling people they can get $270L for $1 US, 270% profit EXCELLENT!.

That system *can* actually work; you pay RL money by being overcharged on an SMS, and the seller in turn pays you L$ (indirectly in this case, it seems, by giving you a one-shot code to reclaim the money inworld; I'd imagine by IM'ing it to a bot or speaking it to an object or something).
I have heard some use a system like that (going through cell phones), in lieu of an international credit card to use with the Lindex.

But boy, oh, boy, I'd check, check and double-check the provider before handing over my money like that. It is just *too* easy to scam, so unless there's provenly some *very* reputable entity behind the service, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Whatever exchange mechanism the OP is using, it does not sound like a safe thing.

By default I'd stay with Lindex ... and then maybe later switch to a solid, established alternative provider who confirms using the Risk API, if I would feel the need to do so.
