How to detect who shot you?

I've never been shot at before tonight.
Hax just shot me (just the once) and I was instantly carried by a black angel in the pitch dark to the comfort of my own home.

It doesn't show up in Help / Bumps,Pushes, Hits.
How does someone without any non-default abilities ID a shooter?

I suppose I'd need a shield system of some sort to record who did the shooting. Maybe I'll play Misti for me and try a few things.

Hax's emporium in Riback is a bit like a dance club.
His cowpat of 16s are over in the corner and raised above the level of the rest of the 4096.
He's arranged two small containers like a bar/barricade/music desk
He's armed and waiting.

I wasn't on his land when he shot me, but the land was damage-enabled. I suppose that's not a TOS violation? I was just standing there. Said nothing, did nothing.
Land around there is build-enabled too.
Hax has rezzed a few target dummys around the place that 'splode' in a red mist when he shoots them.
It's all a bit surreal


For anyone a bit bored of shopping, dancing or whatever, the "Club Hax" should provide some diverting moments.
Being killed was quite interesting.

If you weren't on his land when he shot you and the land you were on was not damage-enabled, then he griefed you and it is a TOS violation (presuming you did not give permission of course). The land you were on was undoubtedly allowing object entry, in which case he can shoot you from outside it.

Sorry, don't know why since I'm not a scripter, but some "scripted" bullets can do their work without showing up on bumps, pushes & hits. Some shields and other weapons systems will pick up and report them, however. Definitely try out your Mystitool first; these things can get quite expensive.

Mystitool has a collision notification thing, every time you get shot, driven over, etc, it pops a message up with OwnerSay so nobody else will hear it, saying that you were hit with object XXxxxxx owned by XXXxxx Xxxxxx

For an object to 'kill' you, it has to be physical and it has to strike you, so the Mysti should capture it.

As for the TOS question, according to the KB, if you are on Damage Enabled land, then it is not against the TOS for someone to shoot you.

Edited to add: "Bumps pushes & hits" has not functioned properly as long as I've been in SL. Go with the mystitool.

Having to hang around randomly shooting people can't be good for sweet ole Hax's business.

I'll second that. I tend to include a screen shot any time I'm shot, showing the mysti text. I include it in the body of the report as well.

I use Conover's Who Shot Me Gadget. It works very well.

Go into the Help tab at the top of the screen and select "bumps, pushes, hits." This will bring up a dialog box which shows who bumps and pushes you. It will say something like, "TheDevil Hax has hit you with a scripted object" for bullets.

Maybe the wall of pigs and the flying-rotating pigs exert a gravitational pull on him?
People do come and talk to him.
He doesn't shoot everybody.
Right now he's have a longish conversation with someone in the land business.

Oops! He's left them standing there.
Somewhere in his far-flung empire, someone needs to be shot.

There's a spot between Hax's command centre / container / desk and the ban lines put up on a plot at the edge of his "stage" that does a TP home without warning.
The banlines have been set on a 'stage' plot by someone who bought 2 of Hax's entrapment 512s at the other end of the 4096.

The more time he spends sitting around shooting people, the less time he has to go around cutting up sims. Perhaps when I have a bit more time I'll put on a bullseye and be a target. He's such a %^*%, he probably would shoot a dog.

I'm sort of remedial here. I don't get it.

Are the towers with the "adfarms suck" message his, too, or does he just have the smiley faces with the Star of David? And he's barricaded himself in an office using his desk for cover and opening fire on people? Despite the fact that he's a despicable adfarmer, he's got a nice RP going there. I've wanted to do that in RL a couple times. In fact, I'm considering doing it this afternoon if my danged phone rings one more time.

Has he taken leave of his senses? I mean in RL. Is he nuts or something? Why is he hiding behind a desk shooting at people, besides that it's funny?

What was that movie that Michael Douglas was in where he played an overworked office dweller who flipped out?

Give it back to him. It was an insult and he did the same to me as well.

The "adfarms suck" wall belongs to his neighbor, one Netfreak Goodman. But Haxxie has no ads there - it's all those black and yellow pylons with the Star of David eye in the round face. Maybe the neighbor could put up a notice for the unwary about how the 512's are cut up, with "ransom" squares in their middles? that would be a helpful warning to real buyers, but landbots would be oblivious...

I don't get it either.. maybe we can go there packing and shoot him before he gets a chance to shoots us.. then we could just stay there shooting him every time he tries to get back. It would be a good way to find out if that is really that much fun...

Be sure to check whether or not the land where he is hiding is damage enabled. I'd bet that it isn't. He could shoot you and be OK under the TOS, then AR you for shooting back.

Alright, we need to sacrifice someone on a reconnaissance mission. Maybe we can just dress Trout in latex and high heels... grins.

Trout hasn't got Laytex or high heels, or, unfortunately, a home PC right now. If you did dress me like that, I would certainly be a distraction, but maybe not the sort of one you would want me to be.

I am soooo in shock!! Actually, I have a tear in my eye at the moment as it's a very emotional time right now. Unbelievable as it may be not once did I see anyone stumble in to tell op not to name names its a tos or cbs or abc violation. WOW!!

There was a new weapon out that would register as "your own name" when you went to see who shot you.
It used to be on SLX but I just looked and I can't find it. Maybe LL found out about it and killed it....not sure.

I will loan you some of my silks. He will want to marry you before you are threw strutting around in front of him and do anything that you want him to.
When is the new pc coming to town? Heard from your new friends yet?
