Couple issues with controls and view.

I've been having three weird issues lately that maybe someone can help out with.

1) I tp in somewhere and I can't turn. The forward and back buttons work fine, everything else is ok, but the side to side arrows have no effect. I have to relog to fix it.

2) I'm going along like normal and all of a sudden, my view goes to first person and I'm miles away from where I was. For example, I'm standing on the ground wandering around and BAM, I'm looking at sky. I can still talk to people who were next to me and I look normal to them, but my view is hopelessly borked. Again - relog to fix.

3) Finally, I seem to crash people. I'll be talking to them, and all of a sudden, they're gone. Assume these are people who want to talk to me and they aren't just logging off to get away. It happens a LOT. So far I'm not taking out entire sims. I've checked and I'm not wearing anything weird. I don't have a lot of prims or scripted items on. Just my hair, usually and a flight feather. It happens with more than one person, so it's not them. I don't know what it could be.

Seriously, it could be lag. The walked off, but you didn't see them go.

1) Hasn't happened to me yet, luckily, so no comment.
2) I was going to say that it has happened to me, but I didn't need to relog to fix, but then there's that part about being miles away. Are you sure you didn't accidently begin flying your biplane?
3) I crashed someone the other day. Completely borked their system when they finally got back on and took days to stop being Ruth. I was driving in my car at the time, but we didn't go near a sim border. Not sure what happened there.

1) If it just happens sometimes, then no biggie. I'll just deal with it.

2) Actually, it has happened a few times when I've been flying, but it's also happened when I've been just walking around or when I tp, either successfully or not. I'm not scrolling in at all, and the view is not the first person view you get with mouselook. It's either the sky or it's like a third person view from a great distance away. It looks like the mouselook interface, though because the open windows like IM's, inventory, etc. disappear.

3) I don't think it's lag. Usually, they log back on and we continue our conversation. It's like all of a sudden, I get no response from them, then they just disappear. If they are on my friends list, I get the blue box that says, "<Name> is offline". Sometimes I crash them two or three times in one convo, sometimes not at all, but if it goes on long enough, they usually crash.

I don't know about deodorant. Does crash landing into the ocean count as a bath? If so, I'm pretty clean.

So "Trout" really is a nickname. You smell like the sea . . .near a fish market.

do you have connection problems maybe? Almost like you are timing out?

If Trout has a corrupted texture, would it crash other people?

I assume you have tried mostly empty, low lag sims and these still happen?


Happens occasionally just in the course of being in SL, but not often, and my system is marginal.
Questions: Are you experiencing packet loss? (small yellow or red bars in upper right. If green, no loss).
What is your CPU utilization while you are running SL?

Don't know but I doubt it. But ... a corrupt script might. Here's a "can't hurt, might help" suggestion: delete the flight feather and get a new one. NCI and GNUBIE both have them, and of course any of us if inworld (I'm not) would be happy to drop one off.

Also, may want to look at beacons for scripts and see if you are inadvertantly wearing one.
They can be in anything. I would give you the exact menu choice, but again not inworld. Anybody?

All sounds a bit fishy if you ask me..

Yes, I tried different sims first off. It doesn't seem to matter what sim I'm in, low or high lag. I'll check packet loss and CPU usage, but my system is pretty solid and before this started happening I've run SL, IE and some other programs (cough-Bodog-Pokerstars-Absolute-cough) which are resource hogs without any problems. I didn't think to check for scripts and I'll replace the feather tonight, although I got it from someone I trust. I can figure out how to look at beacons.

When you're online, do a Ctrl-Shift-1 to see what sort of packet loss/bandwidth you're getting.
Also, even if you got the feather from someone you trust, it can still get screwed up. I bought a pair of scripted eyeglasses back in november that don't work now; something's gone wrong with the script.
