last month i bought some land to add to my current holdings.

on the new land is the tp landing point for the sim.

is there a way for ME to change the position of that point since it is now on my land?

About land, options, set landing point I think.

Oh hold on do you mean the landing point for everyone coming to that sim?

I didn't think sims had a landing point unless it was one big parcel. If you happen to own 128,128 of any sim, I think you should expect lots of visitors. Set the landing point somewhere else on your parcel, and route the visitors that way.

thanks. i'll try that when i get a change to log in.

it is group land and the members have home set to certain positions on the land. will changing the "general" landing point affect that at all?

edit>> and, yes, the new parcel includes the 128,128 point.

I think the best you can do is to set a landing point for your parcel that is way off to one edge. Then at least you control it to some degree. The sim owner sets the Estate-level landing point. But once they sell the land containing that landing point to you, the land is no longer in that Estate. So technically the sim-wide landing point no longer works, though old LM's to what used to be there would.

Contact the sim owner (private sim) or the Lindens (Mainland) if it is a real problem, and ask them to designate a new sim landing zone.

Setting home trumps the landing point of a parcel. You can set home in a corner, up at 750m high, etc.

thanks all.

i logged in and tried moving the landing point. no success.

i then did some investigating and discovered...

the sim's 128,128 point is at one of the corners of a "governor linden maintenance" 512 plot that i surround on three sides. i guess "technically" it's on the linden land and not mine so i can't "move" it. tho when ppl TP they more-often-than-not "appear" on my land and not on the linden plot.

i've IMed guy linden in the past to see if i can somehow buy that single 512 plot. but never get any responses. i guess if i did own that plot, i could move the landing point. unfortunately i don't.
