Always.

I'm security and there's no way to hide from the Mini-map. Even Lindens show on the mini-map *grins*

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

I've used it occasionally while flying.

and I find the green T and _|_ helpful too. Though occasionally you can misread them...

(I once spent some time digging into an underwater reef to find what I thought was a murder mystery - "The Buried Avatar" - only to realise it was someone in a skybox waaaaay above me).

What I want to know though is why after YEARS of bug reporting it, the avatar dot is outlined with a dark circle so it is vsiable on any color background but the T and upside down T aren't so you can't see them easily half the time

Its the /simplest/ bug fixes that LL seems to ignore the most :)

My favorite use for the Mini-Map is to get myself off and out of the way of a TP landing point, without mowing down other avatars in the process. Unless the LZ is very crowded, it's an amazingly simple way to make room while waiting for my poor little machine to catch up with my new surroundings.

It's also a good way of seeing whether there's anyone around me, and orienting myself for navigation and building. (Umpteen thanks to the gracious Dnali Anabuki, who introduced me to that last use... it's proven to be quite handy!)
