From the F1 Help Screen inworld

HOME / BASIC HELP / MONEY
When living your Second Life, rather than deal with real world cash - you use the in-world unit-of-trade which is called the Linden Dollar (L$). When you buy items inworld, or pay for access to an attraction, or buy land - you are dealing in Linden Dollars. At any time you can see your current Linden Dollar balance in the upper right corner of your screen beside the clock that shows SL Time. If you wish to review the ins and outs of your inworld cash, you can choose Account History from the World menu. There are many ways to increase your Linden Dollar balance inworld. Premium members will get a weekly payment that we call a stipend, as part of their package but here are a few other ways you can make money in Second Life.. SELLING YOUR OWN CREATIONS You can learn to create your own content, be it houses, furniture, clothing or a really great hat. Whatever you make in Second Life, you can sell to other Residents. If you don't have your own land from which to sell, you can rent store space from the larger malls, or use one of the web based selling services. SELLING YOUR SKILLS Perhaps you are a good builder of homes, or are skilled at terraforming land? Many people earn cash by selling their inworld abilities to other Residents for specific projects. AS AN EMPLOYEE It is also possible to become an employee and work exclusively for another Resident or group, perhaps as a club DJ, or as security, or tending a mall or store while the owner is absent. AS AN EDUCATOR You can earn a fee from Linden Lab, for running educational events that teach Second Life skills to other Residents. To do this you have to be an approved instructor. You can find details of this on the community pages of the website. AS A CONTESTANT Many of the events listed in your Search window will include competitions and games of skill and chance that will pay out prize money to the winners. This can also be a great way to meet new friends. DEALING IN LAND MANAGEMENT Land can be bought and sold for profit, buying land from other Residents or the auctions and selling on for a higher fee - possibly having added value with good terraforming or prefab homes. BUYING AND SELLING LINDEN DOLLARS Perhaps the simplest way to increase your inworld balance, is to buy more Linden Dollars using real cash. You can do this using the LindeX system, our own L$ exchange, by clicking on blu L$ button or the cash balance in the upper right corner, or by choosing Purchase L$ from the Help Menu. You can also access LindeX directly through the website where you will also find links to Resident run Linden Dollar exchange sites. As well as allowing you to buy Linden Dollars, the LindeX and Resident run services also allow you to sell excess Linden Dollars to other Residents, thus converting virtual cash into real cash. Good Luck Imogen _____________________

They seem interesting. Thanks alot! |

learn to build or make such as clothes, learn to market and sell.
Same rules as real life apply. This is not a game where someone will automatically buy some rubbish because you have made something and taken it to the next island. You need a market for your item or skill and you need customers that will buy what you make. Even then, for time spent, you will likely do better working flipping burgers and then buy lindens with that income |

tutorials on building
08-06-2008 05:04
Go to :-
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Video_Tutorials or visit The Ivory Tower inworld, for a step by step guide to building, at your own pace. You can find Ivory Tower inworld by searching using the 'Search' button at the bottom of your screen. Take time to look around the buttons on your screen, to look around the world. Second life is a big place, there is a lot to learn, you wont do it in two minutes. If it was easy, it would get boring pretty quick. Also check out 'Top five tips for the newly born' Thread, sticky, at the top of this forum Good luck imogen _____________________

"From the F1 Help Screen inworld" - this is obsolete.
F1, on my regular Linden viewer, leads one to the support page. "AS AN EDUCATOR You can earn a fee from Linden Lab, for running educational events that teach Second Life skills to other Residents. To do this you have to be an approved instructor. You can find details of this on the community pages of the website." This has not been true for a long time. This old information needs to be removed from any stickied threads so it won't continue to mislead people. _____________________

...although you can still make money as an educator.
LL might not pay you directly. But several schools in world offer payment to teach classes, plus you may get tips from the students. _____________________

"From the F1 Help Screen inworld" - this is obsolete. Thanks Suezanne, I didnt know this was obsolete, nor that Linden Lab no longer funded educators, actually, until reading that, I didnt know they ever did. However, thanks for the correction. imogen _____________________
