My friend just e-mailed me and said her account has been suspended. Someone from the california has been accessing her acct. The creepy thing is she just created the alt yesterday to avoid some sl drama that had been haunting her and her partner. Now both accounts are suspended because of this. Now multiple people do have access to the computer, but they are all in the midwest and she has not shared her password with anyone.

will linden labs let her get her acct back? how long will that take? she cant even post here because she is suspended so i have to ask these questions.

it is good they put a freeze because she is a part sim owner and has a fair amount of lindens on her acct, so no one can cause issues, but she also needs to get in to tie up some loose ends

ny thoughts?

Hi Jacqueline,

I'm not entirely sure of the policy here but from what you're saying it sounds like she has a case of freud to deal with. I would say she really needs to call LL directly to get this sorted out. Most likely they will need to find out who's accessing her account and boot them out before she can safely use it again. But, she really needs to work with them directly.
Did LL actually tell her that someone else used her account or did she discover this before the account was suspended? Just curious. If LL are the ones who spotted the freud then I imagine they are doing what they need to do to protect her until it's settled and the account thief is banned.

Posting here wont get you any answers. every suspension happens for a specific reason and your friend would need to call LL directly to discuss these specifics with them.

she called them and talked to them, was told the account had been accessed from california, (not by the california office) she needs to wait until 0900 pst time to talk to them directly. she did not discover it rather was online and booted off.

Perhaps her wireless was hacked, she lives near a college, but she swears her security is up to date. she is just a little creeped out by all this

no linden labs must have discovered it. she was completely unaware of it until she went to log in. and of course LL is not available to resolve it for several hours, so she is a little overwrought. She did say the person she spoke with was very helpful, and understanding, she was crying on the phone when she found someone had hacked into her acct. weird thing is they did not take the money that was there.

she lives near a college so perhaps someone hacked her wireless, although she says she has a ton of security on it.

She uses broadband when in areas with poor wireless, could that be the issue?

It could be someone figured out her password.

does she use the same password for any other services? (if so she should consider changing it there as well)
Or write it down somewhere and perhaps misplaced it.

another thing is to consider a stronger password.

A good example would be take two random words that normally have nothing to do with each other. then replace some letters with capitals and others with numbers or symbols(picking ones that resemble the letters)

example: toasted + rain = t0@stEdra1N
