Anyone know if there is a way of forcing an item to detach, effectively removing everything, I have a ring which simply will not detach and I think it's causing my AV to appear at two locations at once... any client switch to remove everything or do I have to wait for Linden Lab to strip my AV?

Try clicking the "Release Keys" button at the bottom of your screen. This should detach all scripted objects. You can also right click yourself, click Detach, then click Detach All.

One or both of those should work, if not then Linden intervention may be necessary.

If you attach something else to the same place (even just a plywood box) it should replace the ring and then detaching the new thing should be a simple matter of right-clicking on it or it's name in your inventory and choosing "detach".

In the debug menus I believe there is "test character" or something like that which will essentially Ruth you I believe? You'll want to have your shape and everything saved beforehand so you can put it back on of course! :)

Ah, found instructions in the Knowledge Base:

Right click your avatar (not an attachment, find some skin/clothes someplace and right click)
Take Off > Detach All

likewise, to remove all clothing, right click your avatar and:
Take Off > Clothes > More > All Clothes

(P.S. This also works if you right click your nametag)

Likewise, if you want to get choosy, try the menu at the top of the screen:
Edit > Detach Object >

From there, you can pick and choose which attachment point you'd like to empty. There's a Clothing menu too. You can pick and choose from the circle menu, but it's not as useful, since the "Edit > Detatch Object" menu will tell you which slots are currently in use. The circle menu Will do that too, but it's a bit of a pain to navigate and it won't tell you WHAT's attached.

Required a reboot of the private sim my phantom AV was stuck in. Strange but that's SL ... thanks for your suggestions.
