I downsized a 4gb goonies movie to 1.4, uploaded it to my server and tried to stream on my TV in SL. I get major freeze and my client crashes. How the hell are you supposed to stream movies the right way without getting the big freeze?

How the hell are you supposed to stream movies the right way without getting the big freeze? You got a license to show that movie? lol someone had to say it. If you convert it to MP4 as suggested and it still stalls then your problem is not with SL. Your problem is you need a streaming capable web host. You will pay more for one of those.

Sorry I was so late to respond. And no, I don't need a license to watch a movie in my own SL home with a friend. My Internet connection is blazing fast connected directly to the computer with no router. I still can't figure out why the video freezes. My computer was built from Nasa. <---joke but seriously, it's crazy fast.

It's still close to 300Kb/second (for a 80 minutes movie) that's a lot for streaming if you ask me.

From: Lord Derryth And no, I don't need a license to watch a movie in my own SL home with a friend. Do you have that in writing from the film's copyright-holder? If not I'd be VERY careful about any 'public performance'. Chances are it was illegal for you to put the film on your server in the first place, transmitting it to another person is almost certainly not allowed and, since SL is a 'public' platform, the authorities may even see 'the possibility' of people you DIDN'T invite also watching the film. NB: Before saying "that couldn't happen", please check ALL applicable legislation in EVERY country/jurisdiction which has SL residents.
