My group doesn't show up in search.

I formed a group, Schwa Corporation, today and ticked the box 'show in search' but it doesn't show up when I or my friends enter it's name in the search widget. I can see it in my profile and the profiles of the group members but not in search. Have I missed something or done something incorrectly?

It may take a while (a couple of days, maybe) to show up. Keep in mind that being in Search will cost the group $L30 per week. All members who have "receive group dividends and liabilities" as part of their group role will be billed a share of that cost.

Also, make sure you did it right. Did you pay the $L100 group registration fee? Did you have at least one other person (an alt, even) join the group?

I paid the L$100 registration fee and my group has enough members to survive. I also made sure that I'm the only person liable for any group expenses. I didn't know that it cost L$30/week to be in the search listings. I might untick the search option box if that's the case.

A couple of years ago (?) some groups stopped showing in search - there was a jira but it finally got closed by LL rather than them fixing it as nobody had complained about it still happening.

unless you have something like a ~ or * (there are others too I think) it should show.

Make sure you've also got your search preferences right, remember that if it's a mature group you need mature settings.

and it does take a few days to show sometimes.

If you don't have any odd characters, it's been around for a few days, you've got your search filters right then it's pretty safe to say you're probably one of the unlucky ones.

Nope - The L$30 fee is for the Group showing in search. The Forum Cartel group gets this charge every week. It usually accumulates for quite a while and then gets charged out to all members that have the "pay liabities" in their role -- which is everyone in that group.

My understanding is that the 30L fee that the Forum Cartel gets every week is for the group land - the Hangout - showing in search, not for the group itself.

I do not believe there is any fee for showing a group in search. I have founded three groups of my own that all show in search but the only 30L fee on them is for the one that has group-owned land that is shown in search.

I'm embarrassed to admit, I thought the fee applied to the group itself, as well as to any group owned parcels. I stand corrected.

So, if land is advertised in Search and does not belong to a group, the owning individual then is charged the L$30?
