Can't Post Under Main--Any Suggestions?

I've used Search but apparently don't have the right terms--or maybe this hasn't come up before, but:

I can't post as my main account.

I've heard from a Linden (I submitted a ticket) and know that it's not anything to do with disciplinary action against the account, or any other problem with the account that they can see.

I can read under the main, and see the name in the top right as Welcome, _____ _____/

I click Reply and can quote and write the reply. But when I try to post I hear a double click and I'm sent to a page that says the webpage can't be found (in the case of IE) or "Not Found..the requested URL /newreply.php was not found on this server" (in the case of Firefox).

This happens whether or not I've quoted, and whether I click Submit or Reply.

My main is at exactly 1,000 posts...I can't imagine what that could have to do with anything, but it's a memorable number.

Any ideas?

to the OP check that link posted by argent, it shows specific word combination's that won't allow you to submit a post.

I do appreciate the response, but this doesn't seem to be it. For one thing, there's no 'forbidden' message (but instead a 'page can't be found' one).

For another thing, I've been so annoyed by this over the past week of writing posts that I really wanted to post, that I started saving the posts to Word (in case I regained the ability to post). None of the words or characters discussed in the JIRA appear in those posts. And none of what was in my posts seems to be remotely close to anything that would trigger such a Forbidden response.

Still, this has to be some sort of glitch (the post Pep referenced was made two days ago). I've had the Enhanced Interface option for months, now, and never had the problem until now.

And surely it's not the case that everyone posting in recent days has the Basic option...????

Guess I should make a JIRA about it. Hmn.

It's been a problem for about five days or so. Once again LL broke the forums.

Interesting that the concierge team seems to know nothing about it. Left hand not knowing, and all that sort of thing.

Well, at least I'll go comment on the ticket and inform them of the situation. Might save them some time if any other tickets show up.

Recently--perhaps coincidentally with the b0rkage of the Enhanced Interface--I've found that including angle brackets (less-than and greater-than symbols) will generate that "Page cannot be found" error.

I know I didn't type any. I guess some could have been inside material I quoted. Or maybe it's not just those characters that trigger it, but other symbols as well.

Annoying.

(I'm still wondering if all the people who've been posting with no problem for the past five days have Basic as their option....)

I don't know why ANY website uses these kinds of interfaces. They're overcomplicated and just begging for a visit from the fuckup fairy. I disable them as much as I possibly can just out of reflex.

I don't doubt it a bit. But I suppose that part of the problem might be that some of those making decisions that affect the Forums aren't much more knowledgeable about the potential complications than I am.

Apparently in the last few days, someone made some decision, some change, that just plain fubared the system, or at least the system for those who had Enhanced checked. And I bet you a dollar that that person doesn't even know this has occurred.

As an experiment, I'll try this post with < and > using the "Basic Editor - A simple text box". It always refuses the post when I do it with "Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls," which is what I usually use.

[Edit: Okay, that worked. And now it's letting me edit the < > text in Standard mode, too. Seriously, WTF?]

Just a question... why do you use the fancy editor when none of the extra formatting actually works?

No reason. I selected it because it was called "Standard" and I'm just a regular guy.
