How can I transfer an SL snapshot or texture to a file I can use in photoshop?

open the texture in SL, then file save texture allows you to save it to your hard drive
you need the proper permissions to do this, however if it is your own snapshot, then of course you have the proper permissions hehe

Wow thanks, I just always emailed the things to myself when I took them. So I can do this with textures that are in my inventory and want them ow. That's great.

There is also a setting in the snapshot window that lets you save direct to hardrive.

Yep, but after a few snaps it doesnt always give me the option of where I want to save it too.

I looked all over for a debug setting to set the current disk location for snapshots, couldn't find one. If anyone knows how to change this in the middle of a session, I'd love to know.

Take a snapshot and when the popup comes up to save or discard, you set it there. Lots of little things to chose from that I have no clue what they are for.

Thanks Kira, but as you pointed out once you set the location for snapshots to disk, it stays with that filename and location, whether or not you use the snapshot menu or go direct to disk. You do not get the option to change the location midsession, so far as I can see.

As far as I know there is no way of changing the location of where you want the snapshots to go after the first one. But I don't see that as an issue because I like to have all my 'raw' snapshots in the same place.

If you are a serious Photoshop user then you should go into the client menu and select 'High Res Snapshot'. But be warned, at 1024 x 768 this creates a 10mb file. But the quality is excellent. Usually I rename all the snapshots after each session and about once a month I save space by using photoshops' 'batch' function to make JPG copies of my screenshots. The originals I burn off to CD.

A quick and easy way to get something into photoshop (windows) is while in SL hit ctrl+alt+F1 to hide the ui, then hit alt+PrtScrn, then ctrl+alt+F1 to restore the UI.

then in photoshop click "new", photoshop will make a new image the exact size of the capture and you ctrl+v to paste it in.

It's very fast and doesn't waste time on creating files and having to search for them or specify them if you plan on cropping or saving as a special file type anyway...

Unless of course you are doing the 200meg big capture, or using some other feature specific to the snapshot console...
