Maybe a stupid question, but those are my specialty, so here it goes.
When I send someone a PM I get a pop-up asking if I want a read receipt. I hate those on normal email so I always hit "cancel" (it should be "no" or "decline", not "cancel", btw). I've received several PMs and have never been asked to confirm reading a PM. Does anybody use this feature? Why? Do you have to confirm, or does the other person know you are using it? Any way to just make it go away?
I have no real stake in this; I'm just interested in the answer.

I always hit yes, never noticed anything extra about it.
