I don't normally use voice....but the few times I have, it worked fine. Last night I wanted to use it for my class......but as luck would have it.....it wasn't working. I think I saw a few earlier posts about voice being sketchy with the latest viewer update.....but I'm still on the old one. So....my question is this.......My sweety bought new speakers a while ago that plug into the USB port (there's 3 in the back of my Dell and 2 in front, so I used a front port rather than pulling the whole tower out which is a pain in the ass with my desk the way it is) My other speakers hooked to the speaker port in the back......and my head set uses a USB which I had plugged in front.....worked beautifully. But I'm wondering......with these new speakers plugging into the USB....and the head set in the other USB....is that somehow counter-intuitive? It's just a guess.....I don't see why it wouldn't work.....but when I plugged in the head set....it showed as 'on'........but in-world I got no sound thru the head set. However.....my green talk beacon was liting up every time a sound was detected.....as if it were working. So.....I'm puzzled. Anyone else have a similar issue....or know why this might be happening?

Sadly, it's not the viewer causing these issues: it's the server.
Other than that?
Not a clue, sorry.

Did you set voice up in your preferences? Does your headset have any funky features such as mute or a volume slider?

There's a place in preferences to set the speaker that voice uses. For example, I have all my SL sounds except voice come over the main external speakers, but voice comes through the headset. I would think if you've changed the location where your headset (or speakers)plugs in, you would need to change the preference in the voice set up to match.

Hmmm...ok... Yes, my preferences are set to voice enabled....haven't touched em and it was working fine. The ONLY thing that's different is the newer speakers that now plug into the USB.....but my headset is plugged into the same USB I used previously. And, no it's not muted. (I do actually check all the obvious stuff before I post questions here lol) But....it may indeed be the server.....not life threatening by any means.....hopefully I'll get it worked out before my next class cause it will be easier if I can speak instead of trying to type everything.....by the time I'm done with class my text sorta looks like this fjdskgb ,m bbt mnrgjm bjfnbm , k'sduOf d
