Scripts gone missing in furniture

Hello ^^

Quite some time I bought myself a coffin that had, amongst others, some failry -ahem- indecent poses in it. I bought it from a trusted party (I thought). But now, since 1 day, the scripts / pose balls have gone missing. Not only in the item I have, but also in the coffins of other people I know, who bought their stuff at the same shop.

I remember reading something about the Lindens deleting stuff that has been copied illegally. But well... I can hardly believe this is the case here because it's a well-known shop. Does anyone know if the Lindens - indeed - go around deleting scripts, and, if so, what I can do about it? Because it leaves me with something that a) doesn't function anymore and b) cost quite a lot of money.

Thanks!

Aen

The Lindens in their infinate wisdom deleted many scripts and other items that were perfectly legal and not stolen just because they had a particular person listed as their creator. If you have a copy in your inventory you should be able to rez a new copy and be OK, if not you are probably out of luck unless you can contact the creator of the item and they can replace it.

wouldn't the entire coffin disappear if it was tainted by a contested script? To answer one Q, no no one really knows what the Lindens *indeed* do or don't do. That info is not forth coming.

Could be that the asset server was hungry too.

Could also be packet loss. Have you tried the relog/clear cache route? It solves lots of oddities.

You could file a support ticket and see what LL's response is. Don't hold your breathe tho.

I think Ravanne's suggestion of contacting the creator is the best bet. If it's a contested script, then everyone who bought one of these would be affected and possibly some of the creator's other products too. So they are likely to be well aware of it if it's a widespread thing. So they *may* have more info or personally offer a solution.

good luck.

Something being a well-known shop doesn't mean all of their content is licensed. I'm not referring to whatever shop you purchased your furniture specifically, just a general statement you should be aware of. I dropped the owner of a well-known shop a polite notecard yesterday to point out that he's using an unlicensed image as a texture for one of his products. I know it's not licensed because I've obtained permission to use that image inworld and know the artist's insists on the image including his URL as a "signature" and this one doesn't. Well-known or not, licensing shortcuts happen more often than we would like to think in SL.

That said, your furniture is likely one of countless other objects damaged by the Lindens a couple weeks ago. As Ravanne said, rez another from inventory if it is a copiable item, or contact the creator if it wasn't. I'm sure the creator is familiar with the issue, if it impacted his/her product line.

I guess you missed the blog post, LL admitted to deleting the stuff. No guessing required.

The deletes all happened a few weeks back. So if the store is still in SL, they probably have already received numerous customer contacts from this issue..... and if they are even semi-decent in customer support they will get you a new item or help you get the one you have fixed.
