Help please!

I moved into a new place and rezzed a gorgeous painting that I bought. For some reason it has materialised INSIDE a wall. How can I get it back?

one way is to write down the height of the building, edit it and lift it up far enough you can get the painting... then reset the height

can sometimes use the select when in edit mode but takes some tricks to get to work at times

If you have mod rights on the wall, simply move the wall a bit, take the painting, hit the undo button and the wall will go back in place. If not then you can still select the painting inside the wall by going to the tool window, mark Select Only My Objects. Open the build window and make sure it is in edit mode, now hold the left mouse button and drag a square selection around the area where you believe the painting to be. It will be selected and you can move it with the direction arrows.

Another way is to just move your cam into the wall, it'll be hollow, then right click/edit on your picture and move it.

Y'all are making this too hard.

Tools/Edit.

Drag a selection rectangle on the wall. Once you get it big enough, the buried painting will be selected. Don't worry if other things get selected, too.

Now click on the painting, to select ONLY it.

Drag it out of the wall.

Even easier method:

In the Advanced menu, under Rendering, check the "Hide selected" option.

Now click on the wall, as if to edit it. The wall will become transparent, and you'll see the painting inside it.

Now click the painting. It will become selected, and the wll will be visible again. Use the edit position arrows to drag the painting out of the wall and position it roughly. (You'll only see highlighted prim edges on the painting.)

Deselect the painting. It becomes visible again.

Turn the "Hide selected" option back off.

Do final positioning of the painting.
