There, I asked a question Quick before it gets removed! A 1024 x 1024 x 100 m plywood megaprim sitting in the Dangun region (map is currently showing the region in a nice shade of tan) the latest sight to see If you go - fly up to about 150 m and increase your draw distance to 256m. Can't see further than the region edges but it keeps on going. At least it doesn't have an animated texture! My guess is the creator made an oopsie selection and never even saw it after it rezzed. Can't see it from the ground. Rime

So i scanned out and realized that 512 took up the whole sim..some reason i had it in my mind that it would rezz a 512 parcel size hehehehe i learned something new that day hehehehe

Put a ticket in. Quite the sight, although acres of plywood only have so much appeal Rime

Yeah - my guess is the creator thought 'Ah ha! A prim to cover 1024 sq m...' ooops! No biggie, stuff happens I've 'lost' prims a number of times when an editing slip shoots them off to who knows where. Some come home with their tails between their legs, others spend the rest of their days wandering the grid. Rime

From the thread title I thought this was going to be a thread about stereotypical female copybotters' rear bumpers.

What I really want to know is the 63245x63245x1 megaprim for real? Imagine rezzing it and turning it physical at 4000m........... I've never been game to rez it to find out. It wouldn't suprise me if it is actually a joke by megaprim makers and actually rezzed a fluffy bunny or something instead. Has anyone seen one of these monsters rezzed permantly inworld anywhere to warrant their existance? How many sims do you need a sky without joins over really?

I seem to remember reading something about these huge prims being used to make non-human avatars without the invisiprims showing. I have a few megas I haven't dared rez because the names give no indication of the size. One is called "oh no, it's full of stars" or something.

It's real lol. we used it during the hay days of testing havok4, found some collision bugs with it and crashed a few regions with dropping it. btw it's so big it will cover 20 sims easily. xD

There was a 1024 x 1024 megaprim over the sim I live in and 3 neighbouring ones. It was textured with cloudy sky. I AR'd this horrible object and it was removed within 5 minutes by a Linden.
I wondered at the time whether it might have been rezzed accidentally.

Okay, this is rather strange. Didn't they disable megas longer than 256 meters a while ago? Wasn't there even Chaos complaining that his gargantuan sky prim reverted to this size and he couldn't put up a new big one? So how are these rezzed now? *scratches head*

A prim that large would cover (63245/256)^2 = 61034 sims, if there were that many arranged in a square beneath it. A square 1024m on a side will cover 16 sims. [/pedantic]

[/pedantic] Yep exactly why I wonderered why LL would let such an object exist in the asset server, I'm yet to see or hear of a legitimate use for one of these inworld. Now the next size down as far as I know of is 2048x2048x2 which I could see someone with a lot of sims using I suppose
