I bought a quiet big piece of land (a quater sim) in SL an I'd like to play music via Winamp on my Parcel. I know how that works, but I need to have the Password, Port and Adress of the Land. I heard I was supposed to get that, when I bought the land, but I never recieved any information like that. I send two IM's to the Land-Owner and I never got any answer. So, my question is, if there's another way to play music, or how else I can find the information I need...?? Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do but you generally just need the web address of the music stream you want, which is where the port address etc. comes in. This is information you add to the media section of your parcel under about land. Are you trying to stream a radio station. Alternatively check out this blog post: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/06/17/play-your-own-radio-station-with-mediamaster/

Hi Anaconda, You probably need your own stream in order to play your own music on your parcel. I have bought and sold land for a long time and also currently own several sims and have never heard of a password, port or address of the land. You as owner of the parcel have access to the media functions of the land by right clicking on the land and choosing about land. Look there for the media settings. As far as additional information you might check the knowledge base.

Just select "World/About land" (or click the parcel name in title bar), and select the "Media" tab. There you can write the URL of the music stream if you have admin rights for the parcel.
However, what you're talking about is probably a login, port and password for a *streaming server*. It *is* possibly to stream directly from your own WinAmp, but it will suck away your upload bandwidth pretty much instantly if a couple of persons are listening. So most people bounce their WinAmp (or other player) stream through a server, like ShoutCast or it's ilk. That hasn't really anything to do with SL in principle, and certainly nothing to do with the seller of the parcel, though some people in SL make a business out of renting out streaming servers for the purpose.

Okay, I get more an idea now... In the instructions of WinAmp it seemed to be normal, to play the music with a streaming server directly from WinAmp, and for that you need... well, you get the idea. Well then, I'll try it with ShoutCast or something. Thank you very much for the answers!
