You can upgrade your hardware/drivers and get hardware that can better render the picture on the screen. Or, you can dial back the graphics settings to something more suitable for your computer. (^_^)
Check your attachments for laggy items... Fancy hair, feathers, flexi, and stuff like that can really drag you down. (^_^) Then again, as some of the SL5B builds have proven, sometimes you're just in an inefficient build where the builder didn't take in to mind the many causes of client side lag (Animations, transparency, dynamic lighting...) (^_^)y _____________________

Unless what he is talking about is true lag. In that case you need to upgrade your internet connection/not download so many torrents

Low FPS = latency between the rendering of one frame to the next = client side rendering lag. (^_^)y Ok ^_^ Don't you think we should come up with seperate names though? The use of lag to refer to things like fps slowdown is rather new, and I think it would be handy to seperate the ideas. Especialy with all the one line questions i get mentoring "What do I do about lag?" |

Especialy with all the one line questions i get mentoring "What do I do about lag?" But, yeah, been there. My first response is usually "Net lag? Client lag? Server lag? (o.o)" and then they start spelling out their real issue. But the OP did fine and said "client side lag" to begin with. Lessee how things turn out. (^_^)y BTW... The use of lag to refer to things like fps slowdown is rather new The vast majority of times I see people complain about lag it's due to client side issues/problems/slowness and not SL related."A skybox is less laggy than on the land" (You're still on the exact same sim, there's no difference between 20m or 4000m altitude) "Particles/sculpties/flexi are/is laggy" (Entirely client-side, nothing to do with the sim) "Rezzing is slow" (said when everything's rezzed for me after 20 seconds so will be due network latency, network bandwidth, bad client settings, etc. Can be sim/grid side but not usually) And dozens more... |
