Hi, I couldn't halp but notice that since action was taken against the spate of skin thefts recently. there has been a deluge of people spamming the groups connected with the original creators of the stolen skins, and those who supported them. I'm a member of several of these groups, and we now have daily shouted group spam advertising cheap rentals, cheap clothing or other alleged bargains. It hardly need be said that these are mainly freebies being sold on by unscrupulous people, or that the rentals are never as cheap as they claim!
So, what do we do? It's obvious that this is a deliberate retalliation and annoyance tactic by thieves or their associates. But often the owner or officers of the groups affected are not online at the time of the spam to eject these twits, and in any event they come back as alts soon enough. It's also hard on all the nice, honest Brazilians in SL, which is most of them, because the crooks are all ( so far as I can see) associated with Brazilian groups.
i mute them as soon as they appear, but isn't there anything that can be done?

SL has been suspending people who spam to groups, if the reports get to them. It's definitely not isolated to certain groups, this stuff is getting out of control in just about every group with open enrollment and enough members to make it worth spamming.

But just like with the product rippers, even permabanning only does so much, new alts keep popping up and they are back in business until the next takedown. LL is in the middle of rewriting the group chat system, I hope they manage to put some kind of useful permissions on it while they are fiddling in there.
