I have never been a resident of the mainland until recently and I was so happy to see all the Linden Roads around my new land and somehow must have missed the harsh truth that these roads are useless due to no build settings.

I'm sure i've just missed out on many fine discussions about this, but wouldn't it be much more FUN and wouldn't it make more sense for these roads to be usable? Isn't that what roads are for?

Then you have sandboxes crossing the mainland on many points. Prime breeding ground for griefers and sim crashers.

It's usually not too difficult to find a parcel of land adjacent to the road where you can drop your vehicle and pull onto the road.

That's what I have always done.

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

I do pay my "taxes." I should be able to use the roads with my little pontiac.

Well that worked for a mile or so, till I sank into the ground off a bridge ended up at the bottom of the ocean and then SL crashed.

We got a great system here.

And where are the Street Crews, cleaning up all the landslide messes and roads buried under rocks and debris? if this was Governor Schwartzneggar, he'd be impeached. Are they going for a After the Planet of the Apes look?

I simply Rez my vehicles on my land and drive them onto the road. Many places on my continent the roads are actually build enabled including in my sim. So I don't have much trouble with that.

You can use the roads if you rez your car on your land. But open rezzing on Linden land will lead to your sim being unusable due to it crashing all the time or being lagged out .

Perhaps some Fortune 500 SL construction company might want to create a proposal that LL might accept.

They could develop plans, as well as maintain the roadways at all times. That might be a cool venture to delve into.

i love the road system on the mainland, i'm there quite often, wish i could own land there, would be great.

the main thing is use a slow vehicle, or like lindal said, some kind of hover/air craft so the roads res befor you cross them or doesn't matter if they do or not.

you could drive there for a few hours and only cross three sims sometimes, there's some good stuff out there

I just think it would nice if there were workable roads. I wouldn't even mind some traffic jams.

My new environs has long stretches of empty roads, winding through the neighborhoods, with road hazards everywhere. Each sim they pass through has maybe 1-3 green blips on the map. No wonder they are empty.

When Guy Linden used to run the Land Management forum here, you could post about roads that needed adjusted with high/low land and such, and he'd fix it. Usually within a week or two.

Since he was promotted, I don't know who, or where to submitt such to. Maybe a Support Ticket?

Anyone know?

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

heyas;

what the roads need are more.... i dunno whaddya callem, waysides? small turnoffs attached to the roads where you can rez your vehicles, then get on the road. there's a road i use for vehicle testing, at the end/start of the road is a square parking-lot like thing. you can rez your vehicle there and drive out.

but yeah, you come to a road, you try to pull out your car... no build. you go on the side. ban lines. you go on the other side, no build. you fly along the road, sadly looking for a place to pull your car outta your back pocket....

but that's not as bad as the no-build and no-script waterways. where sailboats no longer work? but that's another topic.

whats wrong with having 1 minute auto return on roadways??
