I'm getting a new error message when I try to log in tonight -- "Login failed. Second Life cannot be accessed from this computer. If you feel this is an error, please contact [email]support@secondlife.com[/email]" Been in SL > 2 yrs, never saw that one before. Kinda freakin' out... I needs my SL! I know I haven't done anything wrong, but that sounds/acts like some kind of hardware ban!! (Tried different main viewer, snowglobe, emerald, alt accounts, etc.)

Got on live chat -- they said something about "seeing this error today" and that I needed to submit a ticket. I've done that, but thinking about waiting for a ticket to be seen, dealt with, and relying on said attention actually resolving my problem and getting me back on the grid makes me verrrrry uneasy.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc?

This is not an unusual problem (never had it myself), but I wouldn't worry about it. They should be able to rectify the problem...hopefully sooner than later.

If you haven't tried this yet, you could turning off your entire system, computer, modem, router, etc. for a few minutes.

Purse the support ticket.

One reason one can get this message is that you've fallen victim to an IP ban based on someone else's misbehavior.

Another possibility is that you got some lindens from someone who triggered the risk api, or some other similar problem.

Are you the only one that uses SL from your computer?

Suezanne -- I've tried rebooting my machine, but that's about as far as I've gone. My wife has been able to log in this evening (going thru same router) but I may try shutting EVERYTHING down just because that's never a bad idea. Hadn't thought about somebody else misbehaving getting me h/w banned; I do have L$ come in due to sales at my shop... And yeah, I'm the only one using SL from this machine. Mayhap I should do some checking into my wife's SL activities...

May also burn my SL install to the ground and build a fresh one (might as well have something to do while I'm waiting for my ticket to be handled!

SuezanneC -- powered down, killed the router and cable modem power, let them sit for about two minutes, brought them back up, brought up my machine, viola login works!! THANK YOU, you're a genius.

oh, and uh-ohs -- seems Nim saw my earlier post

I *KNEW* there was a reason I don't post too often... Of course, as any of you who know her here already know, she's the LAST person who would be up to nefarious ban-inducing what-not.
