Aditi (preview) grid set for refresh on July 15th

We plan to take it down Wednesday, July 15th, 2009 for maintenance, and to refresh the inventory of all accounts. This means that any content added to your inventory on Aditi will be lost, and replaced with your inventory from Agni. This not only means updated inventory lists on Aditi for those that use it for testing/previewing, but it also means that all avatars created since the last refresh (just over a year ago) and before the upcoming refresh will be able to access the preview grid. Note, though, the part about losing anything uploaded to Aditi prior to the refresh. Obligatory question (since this is a heads-up post, and it needs a question. Even though I know the answer to it, others might not  ) - 'refresh' my memory: how can you get the list of grids to show on the login screen?

Oh I don't see how it could be a surprise... The surprise is that they took so long to do a refresh, not that they are doing one.
It used to be that they would do one once a month.

It appears to me that LL isn't using Aditi to beta test as much any more. I remember when we actually had to use a separate viewer, with was also beta, to get there.
If I was them, I wouldn't bother announcing when the refresh was coming. I'd just refresh it.. but I guess that would make a lot of scripters ticked. RPGs teach us one thing.. save and save often. Oh, and also to take everything that isn't nailed down and pry up what is.. but that doesn't seem as useful in this context.

It used to be that they would do one once a month. I know but people will find a reason to complain about anything and everytime it seems there are some people who don't copy what they're building and testing on Aditi over to Agni or purposefully are using it for building and then storage and are upset when their work gets wiped out. Humans, can't live with them, can't enslave them into the robot overlords are operational.

OK, so the blog item referenced in the one of the above posts tells me that the refresh of Aditi (aka The Preview Grid) was completed on July 14th. I've been away for a while. All this refreshes is inventory? I ask because Aditi won't let me log in because it knows only my old password (which I cannot recall), not my current password. I've been in SL since 2007. I had hoped that passwords got refreshed along with everything else. Silly me?  |
