Installed the new viewer and am so far okay with it - compared to other users I have higher frame rates and rezzing is a blast.
BUT. They broke a tool I was using often for various reasons - the "hide selected" option in the advanced menu. Before, when activated, it hid the selected object physically, too. Like, when you had one prim buried in a wall or something, you could select the wall, it went away, immediately right-click the offending prim inside and voilá, it was selected now. Now, it only hides the object visually, you can't rightclick the object inside.
Boo boo boo.

Boo boo boo. Checking this, because that would be a horrible glitch. I use that feature all the time! Works fine for me in the Win XP client. What platform are you on?

Am on XP myself. Okaaaay, then it is the CoolViewer release for it that's borked. Need to forego that then for a while. Darn.

Using 1.22.11 on XP, and hide selected is working as normal, for me.

Nope, regular viewer is borked for me, too. Interesting. Is there any other setting in conjuncture with hide selected I might have overlooked?

You might be running into this bug. This was a known problem with Hide Selected, but LL chose to release 1.22 and document it in release notes as a known issue :/ There is a workaround for the case described in the bug, but is this the same problem you have (edit window was not already open) ? http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11860

I use this all the time, too. I'll check when next I'm in-world.

Viktoria, thank you so much, that's exactly what was bothering me. I thought I was going nuts!

Oh good, so the workaround lets you get there? I wish it worked with attachments

From: Viktoria Dovgal Oh good, so the workaround lets you get there? I wish it worked with attachments Do you mean prims that are "hidden" inside of your avie? Avanced / Character / Character Tests / Allow Select Avatar Adanved / Rendering / Hide Selected Tools / Select Tool / Edit (Ctrl-3) Left click on yourself and you'll go "invisible", cam over to the prim, left-click and you'll have an active selection to drag it out of yourself.

Kitty, that is the very same thing we were talking about. In previous versious, the option worked, now it is borked in a way that -if you are not already in edit mode - it only hides the selected object visually, not physically, so you cannot just rightclick and select the object inside. On attachments, it doesn't work that way, the inner object just gives you a detach/edit option.
