yes, there are 6 if you let the normal cycle run -- 3 hours of daylight and 1 hour of night

Is the day evenly divided between day and night? I may just be my imagination, but it seems to be daytime more than night.
I may set my environment to midday if I'm building something or need the light to see something particular, but otherwise I revert to regional default. Some effects are better viewed at night.
Some activities seem more suitable for then too.

In a 24 hour period, there are 6 cycles of three hours daylight followed by one hour of night. There's three times as much daylight as there is night time in SL.
