Spam, Begging and related sh*t

Its starting to look like there's an increase in Spam (hoaxes) and Begging, at least thats my experience. Its annoying and whats the best way to to stop it?

For instance I've received the "BBC IS PLANNING TO BAN..." hoax note one time too many already and fear this is just the start of a new pita.
