It depends on what you mean by resizable. If it is scripted, then usually you click on it to get a popup menu and then just follow the menu. Most scripted items come with an instruction notecard, too.

If it is not scripted, then you can right click on it, select Edit, then check the option that says "stretch" and the option that says "stretch both sides" in the building tools window. Then click one of the little gray boxes that will appear in the air near it and drag to stretch.

Important:
1) Make a copy in your inventory first!!!!
2) Ctrl-Z will let you undo a building edit, in case you stretch it too far and want to go back a step or two.
3) If editing something while it is on your avatar, stand on a pose stand if possible, this helps you to see that the item is still centered properly.

PS. It is not necessary to bump a post after only four minutes... patience, Grasshopper. ;) some of us take that long just to type.

Basic Editing Tools

1. The positioning arrows. When you right click and choose Edit, you get red, green, and blue arrows that intersect at the object's center. You can grab the head or tail of these arrows to move the object about.

2. The Rotation handles. Hold CTRL and the arrows change to three colored rings. You can grab them with your mouse and rotate the object in any axis.

3. The Resizing handles. Hold SHIFT+CTRL and you get a bounding box around the object. Dragging the white boxes at the corners will re-size the entire object in all dimensions. If the object is a single prim, you also get colored boxes. Dragging these will re-size the prim in only one dimension at a time.

Advanced Editing

You may need to edit individual prims in an object. Click the Edit Linked Parts box in the Edit window. Click on the prim you want to edit.

You may find that an object will not shrink as much as you want it to. The minimum dimension for a prim is 10mm, or .01 meter. When one prim gets to that size, the whole object stops and won't get smaller. To shrink it further, increase the smallest dimension of the culprit prim(s) to, say, .02 m. Then carry on shrinking the object as a whole.

Scripted Editing

If the object comes with a resizing script, click on it for the menu. Resize it using the menu. Many objects will let you select individual prims and resize or move them with these menus. When you are sure you have finished editing, choose the "Delete" option in the menu to delete the laggy re-sizing scripts.

SAFETY: Before doing any of this stuff, MAKE A BACKUP COPY!
