I just got a notice inworld there are problems. Then I checked some of my stuff and lo and behold older freebie stuff is missing. And not just missing mind you. I get a "This Object is no longer in database" error reply. It is as its been wiped clean away. Not just miss laid.
These particular items where old free clothes from Alady island so no real loss at all. I got them nigh 3 years ago It seems. but now i am wondering how many other items dont have a "thing" to back up that text listing in inventory.
So I was just curious if there was any talk of issues. I'm logging off the web soon but I will check back later.

They may reappear in a few hours. IIRC, the 'garbage collector' in the asset server doesn't actually delete assets that it thinks are no longer in use. Instead, it stuffs them onto some slower, archival storage area.

When you get a database error like you saw, it triggers some "oops! bring this one back!" mechanism and restores the item...

If it doesn't come back, a support ticket would be good idea. Include the exact name of the object and the date/time and region name from the rez failure.

I'm getting all sorts of problems with slow delivery of assets, avs not rezzing, skins and shapes not turning up, other objects and textures taking lengthy periods of time to load. As Meade suggests, it's most likely just a temporary issue.

I got "Unable to create object. Please try again." today. I haven't been back in-world to see if the object has come back yet.

The 'pending downloads' is a good stat (ctrl-shift-1) to look at when you see stuff like that. The number should hover at or near 0. If it's stuck at some higher number, the sim may be having problems talking to the asset servers.

It usually clears itself up after a while. If it's stuck for an extended period of time, poke a Linden to take a look at it. Just tell 'em you have a stuck download queue.

Or it could just be the lovely svc-3895 making everything suck when people TP in or out of the region.

I've gotten the "This Object is no longer in database" message before a few times, and in my experience it means the object really is no longer in the database. That is, it's gone, and I have never been able to get it back. It shows in my inventory, but I can't use it. If it's something I'm really concerned about, I would probably write to the creator and explain the situation to them and hope for the best. If I had a premium account, I guess I could open a ticket. But as far as I know, once you get that message, there's no way to get it back all by yourself.

/me laughs at the memories; I still have old A-Lady freebies too, I used to love that place. I still wear the 10 pack of jeans sometimes, still have that, and the 'colored capris' and some shirt/sweater combo. lol sigh. Those were the days........

/me remembers a solid week of EVERYTHING grey after an update when pending downloads hit the millions for every single sim and took that long to resolve themselves. I got pictures somewhere it was hilarious.
