For those who don't know, it's (among other things) a video capture app. First question: I recently got a new computer, a low end gaming box. The FRAPS video files are now ridiculously huge. Maximim size is still 3.90 GB, but with the old computer and its integrated graphics, 3.90 GB was generally about an hour's worth of video. With the new machine and its dedicated graphics card, the 3.90GB is only 5-6 minutes long. Maybe I'm wrong to blame the card, since there is no noticeable difference in quality, and lowering all the SL settings and the card settings to minimum doesn't pack any extra minutes into the video files. The old computer died, so I can't switch back to it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Second question: I found a very nice app for compression called Quick Media Converter. It converts my FRAPS vids to small DivX files with very little loss, even text remains legible, but...if the file I'm converting is bigger than 1.6 GB or so, the conversion fails at some point. So I have all these 3.90GB files that I need to split before I can convert them to DivX using the QMC app. I've tried Windows Movie Maker, and a Roxio thing that came with the computer, but get too much loss of detail. So, can anyone recommend a good splitter than will split the files and then save them at original quality? Third question: has anyone seen a way to specify maximum file size with FRAPS, or is there a better app with more flexibility? Thanks for reading and I hope I explained the problems clearly enough

Good question, but you might try the Machinima forum. You'll find lots of FRAPS users there.

Fraps uses no compression, it's _raw_ video. Filesize per minute is static and directly corresponds to your screen/recording resolution.
Is it possible after changing your graphics card you are running at a different resolution?
I record at 1080p and get roughly 6 minutes per fraps chunk file/3.9gigs
I recommend Sony Vegas + divx for editing and compression.

I wish I could use Fraps.
Anyone know of a Mac program - bought, shareware, freeware - that captures screen into film without taking up the entire HD? (I had tried a bought Mac program I forget which, now - but it took up the whole thing...) I have more HD space than I did. But still, like with prims, less is more file size-wise.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

I don't think it captures the screen, and the program is also really file heavy.
Maybe it does. Lol. I dunno.

I recommend Sony Vegas + divx for editing and compression. if you mean the display resolution, it's at 1024x768 which was default, not sure abould old computer but it was left at default as well, screen, icons, etc look the same. wmp shows video size as 1024x712 on vids from old computer, these were burned full size. wmp shows the new vids at 1024x720 I'm pretty ignorant here but can't imagine going from a full hour per 3.9GB to 6 minutes, but I'm getting what you are getting. I see nothing in FRAPS to change other than full/half and frame rate, I have always used full and 30 FPS
