Help - I've changed appearance

I seemed to have changed appearance without doing anything. First my hair disappeared and now I have a completely different face. None of the saved outfits are in my inventory. I didn't save any changes I did to try and get myself back to where I was and I'm completely flummoxed. I seem to have hair and outfits that belong to someone else. Is this right?

If you are using an older viewer then it might be that you're ruthed, which is a graphical glitch (the newer clients just show you as a grey cloud when you're ruthed). I'm not inworld, so can't look up to see how new to SL you are, but try going into Edit Appearance and seeing if that changes your avatar back. Sometimes it does the trick.

Also, if you can remember the name of your starting avatar (Girl Next Door, for example) try looking in your inventory's library folder for it, then right-clicking the folder and selecting 'replace outfit'.

If, after doing that, you remain the same, then clear your cache (Edit > Preferences > Network and check 'clear cache') then log out and in again.

You shouldn't be able to wear anything that isn't in your own inventory.

Open your inventory, and in the little space at the top type "worn". Anything you have on will be listed in bold.

Is it possible that you dropped a folder on yourself from your inventory, or right clicked on one and accidentally hit replace outfit? If you did, and the folder had a new shape and a different hair in it they would all replace what you were wearing before.

Did you log in looking different, or were you in world and changing things when the drastic change happened?

My hair disappeared while I was walking around. I went to my saved outfits to reset it. The outfit was there but not the hair. Then I found the Ruth folder which was probably my downfall. I've tried everything suggested - clearing cache, searching for worn etc... but nothing is working. Any other suggestions? (I was the blond avatar when you first sign in)

Ok...I think I've fixed it.....well that's an hour and half of my life I'll never get back!!

Yay!!!

Someone might want to check this but when I made a new avatar she didn't have any 'worn' items in her inventory. All folder were empty except for gestures. I had picked one of the new custom avatars that LL is offering.

Sometimes things vanish for me that I am wearing if I am wearing attachments which is why I rarely do it except for few things on regular basis.
Usually happens when I am having issues with asset server.
Weird things happen in SL all time for me.
Recently I left a group day later I got group messages from group I left, first time that has ever happen to me.
Closed box it quit.
Stuff like that happens, weirdest thing I had was whenever I changed my clothes it often would take hours for clothes to appear for few months. Which was pretty embarrassing at times when I was pantless.
