Region/Estate Tools - Do you have access?

I was wondering how common it is to have access to these if you're renting an entire sim. I would like to tweak my textures a bit but I'm locked out of them. Yes, I can go ask for help, but the primary reason I moved off of a rented plot was to have more (creative) control but I'm instantly running into another wall heh.

To clarify, I'm renting the sim. I did not pay any money down to "buy" it, though I wonder how common it is for those folks to get access to these tools as well.

Thanks in advance :D

I do believe you will need to be an estate manager to change your terrain or have the region owner/manager do it for you. You may ask the owner to be added to the estate manager list but if they owner owns multiple regions on that estate, they may not allow it.

I rent an (openspace) sim along with a friend and we were both added as estate managers without even having to ask (the sim is its own estate and detached though which helps significantly).

The estate of my sim has around 8 sims, rented by all different people.

Is it possible to grant 'estate manager' level access for one sim/region in such a case, so I can tweak the textures and such for only my sim?

Thanks again.

I don't know honestly, I always thought estate managers would exist per estate and not per sim.

If the sim owner is willing, you could have him ask LL to put the sim under a new estate name (there's a nominal fee involved, I think it's $50 US, same as renaming the sim) which would allow you to be an estate manager on your own sim without being able to wipe all the other sims :).

(You'd get the extra perk of being able to indepedently ask for a rollback as well, but remember that changing the terrain map is something only the owner can do, you can change the terrain textures though although you'd have to be careful to make sure it doesn't cause a visual disconnect on the sim borders. If the borders are all water, rather than continuous land that would be less of a concern)

If I were in the lucky position to be renting out an entire sim, I'd certainly consider offering access to the region/estate tools.

Would leave in tact the existing manager's ultimate rights to the sim? I'm sure he wouldn't want to give up that level of control to a brand new renter hehe.

Nope, in that case the estate owner will have to put in a request to assign your sim to it's own estate but I think LL will charge 100 usd for that.

It's the main reason why many full sim rentals (mine included) are on an estate of their own.

The sim owner can remove and add estate managers as they want and never be locked out of their sim.

He would still own it and have ultimate say, yesh :). He wouldn't be giving anything up and can just remove you from the estate manager list at any time.

actually this is one of the few things they don't charge for.
