A little bit of help with using FRAPS

So I have been assigned to record some SL meetings, and I was throw around that I should use FRAPS. I don't have any questions on how to use it, but I have a lot of little questions;

What is a good FPS (20,30,50,60)?

What software do you use to compress the file sizes? (I was told that tmpgenc and VirtualDub were good)

Then to add to that, how do you go about using a file compressing software?

If you have Windows you can use the MovieMaker that came with your computer.
I think Macs have iMovie.

Fraps - get the pay version or the demo will leave a watermark.
CamStudio is a good free recorder that allows you to select ju8st part of your screen if you want.

What size? What are you going to do with it?

In text or voice?

Findlay, the free screen capture program Berio is for Macs.
A not free but reasonable screen capture Mac program is Screenium.

this is an older tutorial but very good one and i believe there is current updates to all the software..but when i used to make unreal tournament machinima we used a lot of the same things and the quality was very good with low files sizes..

i'll see if i can find my tutorials i made..but this is a good one for compression if you are using adobie premire..just make sure you are using up to date programs in the list ;)

just incase you do use this way..the link for huffyUV on that page is no good..here is one that works .

I did this using Fraps on the default settings, then Windows Movie Maker for the editing - just making it up as I went along really (you may well be able to tell that, hehe).

I purchased Fraps halfway through filming (so some has the mark thing on it, some doesn't) - it seemed like a real bargain as it is so easy and efficient to use.
