Clothing Not Applying Properly to Avatar

For two days now I have had the strangest problem. When I apply certain clothing I get other clothing parts that I have not selected. This happens most with the large stack of clothing I own purchased from the excellent Bare Rose but also happens with other items, like individual shirts and pants.
When I click to apply a shirt, I also get the gloves layer (which I never use). Apply pants I get a socks layer. Strangely, this also happens in reverse, apply gloves and the shirt also appears, apply socks and the pants appear. This applies to Bare Rose outfits that contain gloves and socks as part of the suit.
To test this further I applied numerous pants to my avatar and some also showed the socks mesh (the white background with horizontal and vertical lines). Some vests (shirts) apply correctly but turn the entire lower half of my avatar black, no matter what pants or shorts I am wearing.
I have twice cleared cache (once using preferences option and once manually, the latter is my preferred choice), and naturally I have quit SL and logged back in each time. However, there has been no improvement and the same clothing items are still giving me the same problems.
Has anyone encountered this before and know of a solution?

Try moving to a different sim -- like a low lag mainland infohub. Then do the clear cache relog routine.

Oh well, just need to wait now for a bug fix.
