Multi couple dance thingy...

Hi,

So, I've built my first house, and installed a dance floor and some cool lights. What I'd really like is some couple dances, like Salsa, tango etc. So I can buy poseball sets and put them on the floor, but this takes up 2 prims per set.

I'm aware that "menu driven" furniture exists which rezzes up different poseballs and animations depending on the menu choice selected. Is there such a thing (or controlling script) for couples dancing?

What I'd imagine, from my *very* limited understanding, is that perhaps I would fill the contents of an object, e.g. my rotating light, with a controller/menu script or scripts and also dance scripts. Then, when I click on the light (or dance ball or whatever) it would bring up a menu, I'd select couple dances and then Salsa 7 or something, and then 2 poseballs (one blue and the other a lovely shade of pink) would appear. I and my dashing partner would select our respective poseballs, confirm the "animate your avatar" request and then dance the night away. Also, I guess that changing the dance through the menu would automatically change the avatar animations?

Does such a thing exist? If not, can somebody write it for me, if so, where can I buy it!

Thanks!

Hi Lorna!

There is indeed something like this, the same system used by many makers of menu-driven couples' furniture - it's called the MLP (Multi Love Pose) by Miffy Fluffy. The good news is it's free, full perms, and open-source, and even though it was originally written with romantic couples' poses in mind (hence the name), it's perfectly suited to dances or anything else. The bad news is it is being replaced by a new system called xPose which I believe is still in beta/testing phase, so the MLP can no longer be obtained from the original source - but lots and lots of people have one and I'm sure someone would be happy to send you a copy. I'll send you one myself when I get home from work tonight, if I see from this thread that you're interested and nobody has beat me to it. :)

This would best be fitted in the "Products Wanted" forum... Please try there.

Synced sets

Lorna,

I agree the MLP system is great for simpler poses and animations but many of the best couples dances are synchronised sets at least. Those at Bits and Bobs for example. Wonderfully romantic dances but MLP would not handle them well.

There is a product that is available at Bits and Bobs (at least it was when I bought it) called something like the Multi Animation Blocks... this allows you to use those more complicated animations as they are meant to be. It's an alternative to the MLP system but it's not free.

Dearly Darling,

Having a Rez-day party at the house Saturday. I'd find that pretty handy. If you have a mind to please, send me a copy as well. You have a lovely evening.

Ever Yours,

Mrs. Showdog Tiger

I actually ended up scripting something like this before I knew it already existed. Assuming this system does what my script does, the cool thing is that, unlike regular poseballs or MLP where you're limited to one couple dancing your one Tango animation pair, these systems let many people use the same animations at the same time, much as dance machines do for individual animations. (The script is a little trickier than a dance machine, but synchronization is not an exact science anyway. It's actually trickier to get multi-part animation sequences to look reasonably smooth--although there are limits to the precision of that even with the original B&B poseballs.)

No Qie, these blocks are used by two users for couples animations. What it does do is allow you to place the animations inside and use the same animations all over your plot, multiple times.. wherever you wish. They take some time to setup but really aren't that difficult... You set up the different rooms and use a menu to move around as you please.

You know, it turns out I was wrong - the MLP is still available in world.

Or just look in Miffy Fluffy's picks, as before. It says the MLP has been replaced, but it's still there where it always was.
