I have a sim and rent out most of it. We're having troubles with audio streaming. If I put out a radio, it seems to work, and others can use it. But if someone else puts one out (group member, tenant), it won't work. We've tried deeding the radio (and have tried many different ones) and that does no good. At one point, I was putting out radios, and they were completely unclickable, although now I'm wondering if they weren't under a tree or something that interfered with clicking. I've had that happen before. Some are having troubles even pasting URLs into the media thing on the land window. (And yet, I can, and I had a friend test it and he could...he's a group member) On other land that I *rent* I put out this same radio and it works just fine. I'm so confused at this point. Basically, I just want people to be able to put out their own radios and use them, and it seems right now the only way to do it is ME put one out, and then give them move abilities. As far as I can tell, the various permissions are correct. Have I missed something? Video is another problem. :: igh::: But one thing at a time....

As long as the radio is owned by the land owner (i.e. deeded to group if on group land), things should be OK.
Who owns the land on your sim? Ideally it should be a group where you are the owner and the tenants become members (and may deed their radios to this group).

Technically, someone else "owns" the sim and I'm an estate manager or whatever that's called. I basically rent the sim even though we call it ownership. The owner is an individual, not a group. Is there anything I should/can change to let them take care of their own radios? It's kind of a pain for all for someone to buy a radio, then hope it's transferable and pass to me so I can rez it.

To be precise, under About Land, it says I'm the owner. I have the group set to our resident group.

Ok, if you are listed as the parcel owner, you also have to be the owner of the radio. Deeding only works when when the parcel is also deeded. (In other words, the owner of the radio and the parcel need to be the same.) ETA: on estate land, you can safely "sell" parcels to tenants and avoid all this, maybe you could look into that?

Do private sims and mainland work differently? I've got rentals on the mainland (that I rent) and have complete control, even though someone else totally owns that. I think the original rule was that I cannot resell the land on the estate. Only rent. At least now I understand the problem. Will video (TV/You Tube players) work the same way? They'll need to let me be the owner of their players and set them out for them?

They don't really work differently, well except that you wouldn't want to sell the land on the mainland because if you do that it's really gone! I'm taking it that you did have to deed the radio on the mainland rental? Most rental land there does belong to groups. Maybe you could ask the estate owner about deeding the land to a group. technically that's a sale, but they may be OK with it if in effect you are selling it to yourself.

Thanks everyone. This has been most helpful.
Now I have another problem...
My streaming audio seems to peter out sometimes. I open up my other SL browser (Kirsten) and the audio is working. So I close out my regular browser, log back in and the audio is back.
Anyone know what's up with that? It's happening a lot today.

This has to be some SL thing. For the last few days, my SL sounds crap out too. I can hear the "wind" or air thing, but the sounds you get when clicking on an item, etc...they just go away.
Very annoying.
