Alt+Control and clicking on what I want to look at has been my preferred camera mode for years but the past two days, I can't look at anything without the Ctrl button trying to pick what I'm looking at up. Looking at my avatar and the house around me like I always have is making my attachments and belongings zoom off like I picked them up. What changed? If I can't fix this, is there perhaps an option to disable CTRL form picking my stuff up?

There have been a few threads on this over the past couple of months. For me, it seems that a few server updates ago, my camera started getting a bit harder to control and would randomly refocus on stuff. Just using 'alt' to zoom seems to randomly go wild also. ETA - some have said that it started happening to them in the last one or two viewer updates, but up until very very recently, I have always used the same Nicholaz release with a fairly old LL release under it. It started happening in that viewer and is still happening in the Cool Viewer for 1.21.6, and even the regular LL 1.21.6 viewer.

I noticed one day last weekend that if I pressed Ctrl and then Alt to cam around things, I got the particle effect as if my avatar had selected them. Nothing went zooming around, though - maybe because I had the Alt key pressed before I clicked?
On the other hand, if I pressed Alt and then Ctrl, I was able to cam around as normal without the cursor trying to select anything.
I haven't noticed it since then, but I haven't been looking for it either. I don't know if pressing the Alt key first will work for you, but it's a quick and easy thing to try.
Good luck with it.

Thanks for your replies! From: Nic Writer I noticed one day last weekend that if I pressed Ctrl and then Alt to cam around things, I got the particle effect as if my avatar had selected them. Nothing went zooming around, though - maybe because I had the Alt key pressed before I clicked? Good luck with it. That's exactly what is happening. I'm just used to pressing CTRL and ALT so fast and panning the camera right away. I just have to go slow, make sure I press ALT first every time and I can use it normally, but I have to be very careful now.

This is purely a guess, and I think probably wrong or not useful, but there is a setting that affects the keyboard reading process in some way, that might have something to do with the problem.
The setting is Advanced, UI, Async Keystrokes.
