Auction at neighbour's parcel

I got very excited because suddenly a neighbour parcel which was empty for a long time shows as auctioned with an auction ID.
When I go to auctions on the SL website or inworld, the parcel and the auction number do not show up.

How can I make sure that I can participate in this auction? How do I know when this auction will take place?

Many thanks for your inputs, Violet

Make sure you are looking at the USD and the L$ auctions, they are two different pages.

Other than that, just keep checking in every day. Good Luck!

From just poking around it looks like the plots enter the auction block in order of their auction id. Unfortunately the only way i've discovered to find the auction ids of the plots currently up for auction is to go to them in world and check under 'about land' With a little bit of TP work, you should be able to figure out when the plot you are interested in is coming up for auction.

Watch it like a hawk.

Watch the auction itself like a hawk.

Decide what the max is you'll pay.

Be aware that people WILL pay crazy prices. My neighbouring plot went for a VERY stupid amount ... and not even to someone wanting the prims!!!!

For some reason auctions are very rarely a Bargin, people are willing to bid them up, I got lucky getting a 496m property once next to mine and even after that someone came and bought both my property and the newly auctioned one within 24 hours for a price much higher than they were worth (yes I do tend to set a high sale price on any land I own if someone wants it that bad).

Do keep your eyes open and be ready with a last second bid.

many newbies come to LL not knowing much about the land buying process. many i have talked to think that the only way to own land it to buy it at auction. hence the overly priced auction land.

Thanks for all your feedback so far. I have been around for more than a year and own 2 half sims, but I never was engaged in an auction. It seems to be a strange process as you cannnot ask when auction number x is going to happen.
I saw very strange things happening like somebody buying a 8000 sqm neighbour parcel I wanted to have for L$ 300000. I was prepared to pay 170000, but there seem to be strange transactions going on.

Any more ideas? Violet

Normally it takes about a week from when a land is claimed for auction, and when it gose up for auction. Just watch the auction pages daily.

Many thanks for all your inputs!
It took about a week, then the parcel was in the auction.
I tried to increase my maximum bid in 3 steps, this is not necessary. You can enter your max-max bid, the system will only increase in steps of L$10.
I finally paid about 13L$ per sqm, I usually paid 20L$ in this area.
All your inputs were very helpful, many thanks!
