Inventory loss via SVC-3521: any no-copy part of coalesed object = whole thing lost

Something to beware of.. I dragged out my one-of-a-kind, custom boat - a coalesed object that had some bits as no-copy - on one of the Blake Sea rez zones and apparently tried to rez it too close to a non-rez zone. If you do this, you lose the whole object - even the parts that are copyable.

From: SVC-3521
To reproduce:
- Obtain a no-copy object you don't mind losing, rez it, then rez another object some distance apart (5m or so).
- Shift select both objects, then right click, take.
- Move close to a parcel where you are not allowed to build
- Rez the coalesced object such that it would rez into the neighbor's parcel
- Observe the error message, but also observe that the coalesced object is not returned.

Vote for LL to fix this at http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3521

It's got nothing to do with performance.. You rez a coalised object and ANY of it is a no-copy bit and ANY of it ends up on no-rez land, you loose the object.

Asset servers could be all sorts of happy and you'll still lose the object.

Yep, had that happen to me a week or two back. We live and learn (the hard way).

If anyone has coalesced objects and isn't sure if no-copy things are bundled in there, or how widely spaced they were when returned to inv, be sure and rez them in a space large enough and with enough prims to accommodate the entire group, because if any part overlaps to another no-build parcel the whole lot just vanishes forever. :(

I lost everything I had on my old plot... castle, furnishings, landscaping when I moved. At least the castle was copy.

Got my vote. I've gotten into the habit of taking all no-copy items up individually, before taking the remaining copyable content up as a coallesced group. Only work-around available to avoid this is not to have no-copy stuff in a coallesced mess to begin with.

Voted.
Sounds as though it's behind some of the content loss that we hear about on the forum.
