well, excuse me. i sure didnt mean to offend anyone, and i certainly didnt expect to be trashed.

we are trying to test a rl contest for our business, and surely thought it would be fun to try it in sl first.

since this is the only forum i read, and have come to recognize some of the names, and even know some of you inworld, i thought it would be nice to post it here.

i thought $20,000 Lindens was a pretty nice amount for prizes, i never thought we were being cheap. the $100 linden bonus was just to be nice, so everyone involved at least got something. we sure arent out to scam anyone, we are just trying to test this thing out.

So, is the RL contest a popularity contest also? That is what all voting contests in SL really are - well, that and a way for someone to make a lot of money charging people to vote.

nono, we arent charging anyone anything, we are only paying out, we just are wanting to see how the contest pans out before running it in rl. last week we did the same thing with a survey, paid people in sl to fill it out, just to test it.

thats all, we are testing our business tools, and thought it would be fun to give away lindens. we are happy idiots and like giving stuff away.

i guess it is a popularity contest, but we are giving away real prizes, lindens in sl, to test the system.

IBTL

Hi Elizabeth :) Perhaps this is not the correct forum, but I'm not sure which one this should have been in...maybe "Special Attractions"?

And just in case it's needed:

I would like to say that i think this is an interesting contest, and don't share any of the negative feelings of it being posted here.

I like photography, maybe i'll submit something :3

does one have to register to vote? (I will go look at the site now)
(re read your post it seems one has to register to vote, I would never ask my friends to register on an unknown website just to vote for me, so unless you remove that stipulation, expect to not see much action)

sorry... just saying it how I see it

ok looked at the site

how are people supposed to know where to go to vote or how to vote?

what about general public wanting to enter said contest?

I have not registered as of yet, so if that is something you only see AFTER you register, then you would be losing out on potential entries

also the site leaves me going... huh?

what exactly is the site for?

The contest is still in test, that's why you can't see it from the site's menus. Once it's live, the prizes won't be in L$, and the contest WILL be visible from the home page. Also, even in this stage of testing, the voting isn't enabled. We have this initial period in which we're hoping *someone* (anyone?) will upload some photos for the contest. Once we have enough to actually have a test contest (test = L$ prizes), the voting will be enabled.

The reason for having people register in order to vote is to have one vote per person. Your concern makes sense. Is there some other way to prevent vote spamming?

thank you,

lizzie and janor

/me agrees with this

especially since i assume all it takes to 'register' is an email addy or soemthing? so very simple tohave youself vote as many times as you like

If howeever you do a photo contest based on a panel of people judgign who are 'impartial' ill join in
